Chittor, July 26: Seasonal and communicable diseases like gastroenteritis and viral fevers such as dengue and brain fever, which are rampant in many mandals, have claimed 42 lives in the district since June.
Interestingly the diseases have struck even mandals which surround towns and the district headquarters, leave alone remote and underdeveloped mandals which lack proper health care system.
Sircilla, July 26: The contest is keen in Sircilla constituency where the TRS chief’s son, Mr K T Rama Rao, won during the last elections by a slender margin of 170 votes over the independent candidate, Mr K K Mahender Reddy. Mr Reddy went to court challenging the election of Mr Rama Rao.

Guntur, July 25: Senior Congress MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao today demanded the removal of major industries minister Kanna Lakshminarayana, who filed a defamation suit against him, from the state cabinet. Talking to newsmen here, he also demanded a probe into the illegal wealth amassed by the minister. He threatened to quit the party if the Congress high command failed to take action against Kanna. The political rift between Rayapati and Kanna had started widening since the latter shifted to Guntur West constituency in last elections from Pedakurapadu from where he was elected thrice.
Hyderabad, July 25: Endowments minister G Venkata Reddy said that the goods and services tax (GST) system might come into force from the
next financial year and the Centre is working on it.
Speaking to newsmen here today, he said that he had attended the empowerment committee meeting on the implementation of GST this month. The earlier meet was attended by chief minister K Rosaiah when he was the finance minister.

Hyderabad, July 25: The Meteorological Department today issued warning of heavy rains at many places in coastal Andhra and Telangana regions during the next two days.
The Met Department has forecast moderate to rather heavy rains accompanied with thundershowers at many places over Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh, while light to moderate rain/ thundershowers at some places over Rayalaseema region during the next two days.
Hyderabad would witness spells of rain/thundershowers until the morning of July 27, it said.
Hyderabad, July 25: Curtains came down today on campaign for by-elections to the 12 Assembly constituencies in Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh, scheduled to be held on Tuesday.
The campaign has ended at 5 pm, so the contesting candidates should not organise any public meetings any more, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) I V Subba Rao said.
The campaign for the bypolls, necessitated by the resignation of the 12 sitting MLAs in support of separate Telangana demand, centred around the same issue. Ten MLAs among those who quit were from TRS and one each from TDP and BJP.
New Delhi, July 25: The Election Commission today issued notice to TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao on charges of abetment of corrupt electoral practices and making derogatory remarks against a woman Andhra Pradesh Minister two days ago.
The poll authority, acting on complaints received by it, issued notice to Rao and asked him to send a reply by 11:00 a.m. tomorrow.
According to the notice, the TRS chief had made certain derogatory remarks against Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Sabitha Indira Reddy while campaigning in Sircilla (Karimnagar) for the Assembly bypolls in the state on July 23.
Rajahmundry, July 25: A woman delivered triplets in Tuni Mandal of East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh yesterday.M Lakshmi (25) of Pakayaraopet Mandal of Visakhapatnam district gave birth to the triplets in the mandal area hospital yesterday morning. They are two female babies one male baby, hospital sources said.
The normal weight of the babies should be three kgs each while these babies weigh of two kgs each, doctors said adding that the three babies are healthy.

Karimnagar, July 25: Senior Congress leader Gone Prakash Rao on Saturday charged Telangana Rashtra Samithi president of trying to win the by-elections by spending the money he had earned by rousing the Telangana sentiment among people.
Addressing a public rally, Mr Gone Prakash thundered that the TRS chief is repeatedly forcing elections on the people for personal gains.
He said that the by-elections have no link with the separate Telangana statehood issue since KCR forced his party MLAs to resign for his own benefits.

Hyderabad, July 24: Giving a shock to Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao, the Election Commission today voiced displeasure over his explanation on his remarks during the byelection campaign recently.
The poll panel had issued a showcause notice to Chandrasekhar Rao for stating that Telangana would become an inferno after December 31 this year if bifurcation of the State did not happen.
In its statement, the commission said the explanation given by Chandrasekhar Rao was not satisfactory.

Hyderabad, July 24: Election Commission today expressed strong displeasure over the “provocative” statements made by TRS President K Chandrasekhara Rao during the campaign for the July 27 by-elections to 12 Assembly seats in Telangana.
“The EC was not satisfied with his explanation regarding these statements and is of the view that he, as a responsible political leader, should not have made such statements in public, which can aggravate existing differences between different sections of the society,” Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer I V Subba Rao told reporters here.

Hyderabad, July 24: Election authorities in Andhra Pradesh would provide 3G mobile phones to polling officers to obtain quick video footage on polling pattern during the July 27 by-elections of 12 Assembly constituencies in Telangana region.
“For providing us information on poll percentage, and whether polling is going on smoothly or not, we are appointing 320 zonal officers and 320 route officers. We will do video surveillance in Warangal and Nizamabad and for that 3G cell phones would be provided to zonal officers,” State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) I V Subba Rao told reporters.
Hyderabad, July 24: Political parties in Andhra Pradesh on Friday unanimously resolved to request Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to find an “appropriate, quick and permanent” solution to river water sharing dispute with upper riparian states Karnataka and Maharashtra.
“As a lower riparian state Andhra Pradesh is being deprived of its rightful share of river waters, as the upper riparian states Karnataka and Maharashtra have been constructing illegal irrigation projects on rivers Krishna and Godavari respectively,” they said.
