B.C’s will get 100 seats in 2014 elections -TDP

In order to get closer to B.C’s, TDP will nominate 100 candidates in various Assembly constituencies in general elections of A.P in 2014.

Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu gave this assurance while talking to B.C’s leaders at a meeting at NTR Trust Bhavan organised by B.C’s Cell of TDP. Mr. Naidu gave details of the status in TDP and announced that TDP has decided to allot at least 100 constituencies to B.C candidates in the next elections to be held in 2014.

Gajwel renamed as gajwel-pragnapur nagar panchayat

The name of Gajwel Nagar Panchayat has been changed as Gajwel Pragnapur Panchayat.

According to the GO issued in this regard, orders have been earlier issued constituting the areas covered under erstwhile Gajwel Gram Panchayat duly merging surrounding three Gram Panchayats i.e., Pregnapur, Mutrajpally and Kyasaram Gram Panchayats in Medak District as Gajwel Nagar Panchayat.

Congress demands apology from CPM over irrigation water row

The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has demanded an apology from the Communist Party of India – Marxists (CPM) to farmers in Krishna region for its objection to release of irrigation water for Krishna delta from Nagarjuna Sagar dam.

Yesterday, CPM state secretary BV Raghavulu wrote a letter to the chief minister objecting to the release of water from Nagarjuna Sagar to Krishna delta.

Vijayamma assures YSRC’s support to Tikkavanipalem fishermen

YSR Congress party honorary president Y S Vijayamma on Sunday assured the fishermen of Tikkavanipalem, who were injured when the CISF personnel resorted to lathicharge at NTPC near Parawada, that she would raise their issue in the Assembly and seek justice as their livelihood was being affected due to the pollution caused by the Public Sector Unit.

36 Naxals arrested in Andhra Pradesh

In a major operation, thirty-six Naxals were today apprehended by the CRPF and state police from Vishakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh.

Among those nabbed is top Naxal commander Lambayya who carries a reward of Rs 30,000 on his head.

The security forces also seized a number of weapons and ammunition besides Rs one lakh in cash after the operation.

Allahabad bank opens two more branches in state

Allahabad Bank has announced the opening two more district headquarter branches at Nellore and Anantapur taking the number of its branches in the State to 45 total number of branches to 2,536 in the country.

The new branches were inaugurated on Saturday by Bank Chairman & Managing Director J.P Dua. Chet Ram Verma, Zonal Head and other senior executives of the Bank were present.

17 injured in Nagarjuna Agrichem fire mishap

At least 17 persons injured and three of them are serious, when a major fire broke out in Nagarjuna Agrichem plant at Chilakapalem in Etcherla mandal in Srikakulam district on Saturday morning.

According to reports, the fire mishap took place after explosion in the chemical instruments section in the 5th block which engaged in manufacture of agri chemicals. All the injured were immediately rushed to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Srikakulam. Among the injured, three were shifted to King George Hospital in Visakhapatnam for higher treatment.

Maoists set ablaze road construction machinery in Vizag

Suspected Maoists from Galikonda Area Committee set a hydraulic excavator (JCB Proclainer) on fire in Jamparlova area of GK Veedhi mandal in the Agency area of the Visakhapatnam district last night. Police said that about 40 armed rebels, including a few women, doused the hydraulic excavator with petrol and torched it. The ultras also asked the workers living in nearby shelters what was the purpose of laying the road, police said.

Elevated corridor only after Inner Ring Road: Minister

Secondary Education Minister K Parthasarthi and MP Lagadapati Rajgopal clarified an elevated corridor would be constructed on NH 9 near Kanakadurga Temple only after completion of work on Inner Ring Road. Addressing a joint press conference with Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajgopal and VGTUDA Vice-chairman GSRKR Vijay Kumar here today, the Minister explained the construction of elevated corridor would be started only after the completion of work on Inner Ring Road. He said Rs 130 crore was sanctioned for the construction of inner ring road and works worth Rs100 crore completed.

Rain occurs in Coastal AP

Isolated Rain occurred over Coastal Andhra Pradesh while weather has been mainly dry over Telangana and Rayalaseema. A bulletin from Meteorological Centre here today said Mangalgiri, Tenali in Guntur District and Vijayawada in Krishna district received a rainfall of one cm each. Forecast and Farmers’ weather bulletin valid until the morning of June 27, 2012, indicated isolated rain or thundershowers would occur over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and Telangana.

ECR to introduce new weekly trains

The East Coast Railway (ECR) today decided to introduce a pair of new weekly trains between Shalimar-Chennai-Shalimar with effect from July 3. ECR-Waltair Divisional Official Spokesman here tonight said the pair carries nine sleeper class coaches,two AC 3 Tier coach,one AC 2-Tier coach, four second class coaches and two second class sitting-cum-luggage booking vans. The Train Number 22825 Shalimar-Chennai weekly Super-fast Express will leave Shalimar on every Tuesday with effect from July 3 at 1220 hours.

We will achieve flyover at any cost: Naidu

Alleging that the Congress government was deliberately delaying construction of a flyover at the Kanaka Durga temple here, TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu has demanded that the State government take up the work immediately. He also declared that they would achieve the flyover under any circumstances.

Five cops hurt as minister’s escort vehicle runs amok

Five policemen following Mines & Geology Minister Galla Aruna Kumari were injured when the escort vehicle in which they were following her lost control and turned turtle. They were rushed to the Ruia Hospital.

The accident occurred near Chinnagottugallu. The minister has directed the doctors of the Ruia Hospital to take good care of the injured policemen. (NSS)

Political war over flyover in Vijayawada

High tension prevailed in Vijayawada as both the TDP and the Congress held dharnas, protesting against each other’s stand on the proposed flyover at the Kanaka Durga temple.

After the TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu announced his decision to stage Maha Dharna, Congress local MP Lagadapati Rajagopal also announced his decision to stage a counter dharna.

Lagadapati, owner of real estate giant Lanco group, has announced that he would meet Naidu to learn engineering techniques from him. When he sought police permission to meet the TDP chief, they denied it.
