Telugu speaking people can have two States: Botsa

Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana on Saturday stated that there was nothing wrong in having two states for Telugu speaking people.

Talking to media persons after submitting a report on the Presidential elections in the State to the Congress High Command, the PCC chief said that there was no fault in having two Telugu speaking States while there were 13 States for Hindi speaking population.

Over 53 per cent clear SSC supplementary exams

Girls outperformed boys in the SSC advanced supplementary examinations held in June, the results of which were announced by the officials on Saturday.
Releasing the results at the Secretariat, School Education Commissioner Shiv Shankar said that the girls’ registered a pass percentage of 57.42 and while the boys percentage was 51.85 per cent. He said that the overall pass percentage of students stood at 53.84 per cent.

Compared to June 2010 examinations, there was an increase of 10 per cent students clearing the June 2011 examinations, he pointed out.

CM wants medical treatments costs reduced

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday said that the government was planning to introduce reforms in the Andhra Pradesh Vaidya Vidhana Parishad to provide better health facilities at low costs to poor and middle class

Central Bureau Investigation (CBI) Joint Director V V Laxminarayana today visited the CBI courts in the Port City and held discussion with the CBI judges. Human right activist demands arrest of IGP

Human rights activist and noted lawyer B Chandrasekhar, who filed a case at National Human Rights Commission against fake encounters, today demanded that Inspector General of police P Sitaramanjaneyulu be arrested and police medals be withdrawn for his involvement in encounters, which are proved to be fake by the NHRC and ordered compensation to the deceased families. 7 killed, 8 hurt as two lorries dive into canal after collision

Seven persons died on the spot when two lorries collided head-on on the Jonnada Bridge in Alamuru mandal at high speed and plunged into the canal on early Thursday morning. Eight other were grievously injured in the accident. They were shifted to the government general hospital in Rajahmundry.

It is learnt that there were 20 wage-earners in the cement laden lorry when it collided with the another lorry carrying sand.

Six labourers killed in road mishap; CM expresses shock

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday expressed shock over the road accident at Jonnada in East Godavari district which claimed six lives.

In a media statement, the Chief Minister directed the East Godavari District Collector and Superintendent of Police to provide better medical facilities to the injured, who are undergoing treatment at the Government General Hospital in Rajahmundry. Expressing serious concern over the accident, he also directed the District Collector to order a probe into the mishap and submit a report to him.

AP IAS officer used govt money sans sanction

Yet another senior IAS officer in Andhra Pradesh finds himself in the dock for splurging government money for personal purposes.

VN Vishnu, who served as Collector of Guntur district from April 2011 to July 15, 2012, is accused of spending lakhs of rupees of government money without any budgetary provision or official sanction, official sources here said on Wednesday.

Vishnu is already under the CBI scanner over certain controversial land deals executed during his previous stint as Vice-Chairman of Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority. He was grilled by the CBI last week.

KCR’s statement a part of matchfixing: Dayakar Rao

TDP Telangana Forum convener Errabelli Dayakara Rao has alleged that the statement of TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao that Telangana State would be a reality soon, was part of a match-fixing between his party and the Congress.

TRS to remain neutral in Presidential elections

Former MP B Vinod Kumar on Wednesday defended the decision of Telangana Rashtra Samithi to remain neutral in the Presidential elections scheduled to be held on July 19.

Talking to media persons, Vinod Kumar said that the TRS would abstain from voting like 2008, where it did not participate in the election. Stating that TRS has so far not taken any decision over extending support to UPA candidate Pranab Mukherjee, he said that TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao would take a final decision on participation of Presidential voting.

YSRC stages dharna seeking compensation for farmers

The YSR Congress Party led by its Honorary President Mrs Vijayamma today staged a dharna demanding compensation to farmers who lost their crops due to drought conditions at Pulivendula in the district today.

Indiramma Bata’ programme to be launched in every AP dist: CM

Andhra industries to face power cuts in peak hours

Major and medium industries in Andhra Pradesh will have a ‘power holiday’ for 12 days a month beginning today as the state power distribution companies are unable to meet the growing demand for electricity.

The industries will also have to face “evening peak restrictions” from 6.30-10.30 pm daily, according to Member Secretary State Energy Co-ordination Cell, A Chandrasekhar Reddy.

After failing to implement the programme to bring back drop out students to school, Govt of A.P has started this campaign once again at the instructions issued by C.M of A.P Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy. The campaign will be organised from 9th to 19th July.

It is noteworthy that the scheme to get the children wandering on roads admitted in schools was launched on 9th June. It failed due to non- cooperation and non-coordination between politicians and the Govt Officials.
