TECOM Investment officials meet AP minister

A delegation of Dubai-based TECOM Investments today held discussions with Andhra Pradesh Information Technology Minister Ponnala Lakshmiah on investment opportunities in the IT sector.

During their meeting with Lakshmiah, TECOM Investments CEO Abdul Latif Almulla and other officials discussed the development of IT sector in Andhra Pradesh and the opportunities the state holds for large overseas IT and electronic infrastructure developers, an official release said.

Byreddy begins 96-hr fast for Rayalaseema State

Founder president of Rayalaseema Parirakshana Samithi Byreddy Rajasekhar Reddy on Saturday launched his 96-hour hunger strike, “Rayalaseema Melukolupu Deeksha” in front of Sri Krishnadevarayulu statue in Kurnool.
While sitting for hunger fast, Byreddy Rajasekhar Reddy said that the Deeksha was aimed to safeguard the self-respect and interests of the people of perennially drought-prone Rayalaseema region. Reiterating that he was opposed to the bifurcation of State, he called upon all parties to make their stand clear on the statehood issue and put an end to
uncertainty in the state.

Shankar Rao hints at major changes in party, Govt

Former minister Dr P Shankar Rao on Saturday predicted major changes in the State Congress and the government soon after the completion of Vice President’s election.

Taking to the media persons in the Assembly premises, Dr Shankar Rao said that several developments have been taking place in New Delhi and they were a clear sign of High Command contemplating to strengthen the party and the government at the center and States. The developments at the center would also have an impact in the State where the Party and the Government would witness big changes very soon, he said.

AP braces for more power outages as Centre cuts gas supply

The Centre remained indifferent to Andhra Pradesh government’s plea for withdrawal of its order diverting two million metric standard cubic metres per day (MMSCMD) of natural gas from the Krishna-Godavari Basin to Ratnagiri power plant in Maharashtra.

Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas S Jaipal Reddy today refused to intervene or even speak on the
controversial decision even as the principal opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) blasted both the Centre and the state governments for jeopardising AP’s interests.

Andhra CM visits MRO facility at Rajiv Gandhi Airport

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today visited the Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MRO) facility at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.

This is the first visit by the Chief Minister to the facility, which was inaugurated in March this year.

Home Minister Sabitha Indira Reddy, Major Industries Minister J Geeta Reddy and Infrastructure Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao accompanied the Chief Minister, a release said.

AP power woes: Centre diverts gas from KG Basin

The woes of power-starved Andhra Pradesh have been further compounded with the Centre’s order that two million metric standard cubic meters per day of gas be diverted from the Krishna-Godavari Basin to the Ratnagiri power plant in Maharashtra.

Already starved of gas for its power plants that have been working with a plant load factor of only 30 per cent, the state will now get only 1.

EC will act if Parthasarthy’s affidavit was wrong:Bhanwarlal

State’s Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal has said that if it was proved that minister Parthasarathy has filed a wrong affidavit during the 2009 elections, the Election Commission would take suitable action.

Bhanwar Lal has held a review meeting with the Collector and Tahsildar on the changes in voters list and setting up of polling centers here on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said if there were mistakes and deliberate omissions in the affidavit filed by the minister suitable action would be taken.

Telangana employees allege discrimination by Andhra officials
