CM expresses grief over Vilas Rao’s demise

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy expressed his shock and grief over the demise of Union Minister Mr.Vilas Rao Deshmukh.

In a special message to Ritesh Deshmukh, son of Mr. Vilas Rao Deshmukh, the Chief Minister said that the death of Vilas Rao Deshmuk was a great loss to the Maharashtra, the Congress party in general and the Union government. He that said in the death of Mr Deshmukh, he lost a “a very good friend”.

Shankar Rao describes CM as “weak captain”

Former minister Dr P Shankar Rao on Tuesday referred to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar as a bad ‘captain’ whose team members are falling apart, one by one.

Talking to reporters in the Legislative Assembly premises, Dr Shankar Rao said that the Chief Minister was proving to be a very bad captain. “One wicket was already down and another has just fallen,” he said while referring to the arrest of former Excise Minister Mopidevi Venkataramana and now the naming of Roads and Buildings Minister B Dharmana Prasad Rao as the accused in Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Reddy’s assets case.

Railwaymen’s federation demands Rs 50,000 Cr bailout package.

Expressing concern over the deteriorating financial position of the Indian Railway, All India Railwaymen’s Federation General Secretary Shiv Gopal Misra today demanded a bailout package of Rs 50,000 crore for the railways every year to come out from the crisis. Talking to newsmen here, he said if the deterioration of the financial position continued, the railways, after few months, would be in a position to unable to pay salaries to its employees.

Village Revenue Assistants stage dharna

Village Revenue Assistants under the aegis of their district association staged dharna in large numbers at the Collectorate here today in support of their demands.

Rs 500 cr for farm mechanisation : Minister

Andhra Pradesh Minister for Stamps and Registrations Thota Narasimham today said that state government has earmarked Rs 500 crore this year under farm mechanisation to supply modern agricultural implements to the farmers on 50 per cent subsidy enabling them to achieve optimum production with less investment adopting latest package of practices.

Andhra anti-terror force Octopus gets its headquarters

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy inaugurated the headquarters of Octopus, formed on the lines of National Security Guard (NSG) to counter terrorist attacks.

The force will comprise 250 commandos, who will be deployed in key cities of the state. About 100 personnel would deal with any threat to the famous temple in Tirupati.

Built at the cost of Rs.5 crore in Begupmet area here, the Octopus headquarters is equipped with the state-of-the-art conference hall and the communication networking.

5 killed, 5 injured as auto collides with tipper

Five persons were killed on the spot and as many injured when the autorickshaw in which they were travelling from Chollangi to Kothur collided with a tipper coming from Yanam to Kakinada on the national highway, 25 km from from here, today.

Kakinada Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sai Sri who rushed to the spot told UNI that all the victims were fishermen from neighbouring villages.

10 killed, 25 injured in different road accidents in AP

Ten persons were killed and 25 others injured in two separate road accidents in Andhra Pradesh today. Action will be taken if loans not sanctioned to farmers: AJC

Additional Joint Collector B Ramarao has warned the officials of the agricultural department of stringent action, if they showed negligence in sanctioning loans to the eligible tenant farmers. Talking to media persons here today, he said strict warning was issued to all the assistant directors of agriculture department during the wireless set conference that all the tenant farmers who received loans last year should be renewed and get fresh loans sanctioned by the concerned banks this year also.

CBI probe demanded into Assam riots

Assam Relief Co-Ordination Committee has demanded that the Union government order a CBI inquiry into Assam riots. Speaking to mediapersons here on Sunday, Committee organizer Mohd Shahnawaz Khan demanded that the Centre arrest culprits behind the riots and dispense justice to the riot victims.

He also urged the Centre to release adequate funds for rehabilitation and set up more medical camps to provide medical assistance to the victims.

Jagga Reddy accuses jaipal of trying to oust Kiran Kumar

Government Whip in the Assembly and Sangareddy MLA Toorpu Jayaprakash Reddy aka Jagga Reddy has alleged that Union Petroleum Minister S. AP plans to set up high-end Electronic Park in Hyderabad

The Andhra Pradesh Government on Sunday proposed to set up a high-end Research and Development Park in Electronic Manufacturing in Hyderabad in line with Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) of Taiwan.

The proposal was made by Information Technology Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah during his interaction with Union IT and HRD Minister Kapil Sibbal and Dr Kumar Mangalam Birla at the sidelines of the first convocation of BITS Pilani in the city. Ponnala suggested that India was in dire need of high end electronic R&D Park such as ITRI.

TRS asks State to hold local body polls

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Sunday demanded that the State Government hasten the process to conduct elections for the local bodies in the State.

Talking to reporters here, TRS deputy floor leader T Harish Rao said that the State has been Central funds worth several hundred crores due to the absence of elected local bodies in the State. He said despite knowing the fact that the Central funds could not be received unless elections are held, the State Government has been avoiding the elections citing one reason or the other.

VHR warns against diluting Fee Reimbursement scheme

Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao on Sunday demanded that the State Government continue the Fee Reimbursement scheme without any modifications.

Talking to reporters here, Hanumantha Rao said that it would be wrong on the part of the State Government to say that it would only reimburse only Rs 31,000. Further, the advise being given to the students to take the remaining fee amount as loan from the banks was not practical as the banks does not give loans to the poor students, he said.

Danam indulging in rowdyism:Kishan Reddy

BJP state president Kishan Reddy has alleged that labour minister Danam Nagender was acting like a rowdy and raiding temples.

Talking to the media here on Friday, he said the Governor should take action against the minister for raiding a temple and locking up its gates. He said it was strange that Danam was stating that he had locked the temple to save Congress workers. Questioning how a minister could indulge in rowdyism, he said Danam who said anti-social activities were occurring in the temple should say what they were.

I have written four letters for allocation of gas to ‘T’ plants CM

The Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has said that he has already written four letters to the central government for allocation of gas to the Nedanuru and Sankarapalli plants of Telangana and commented that the Telangana friends might not be knowing it.

The Chief Minister was addressing a review meeting in Khammam as part of his Indiramma Baata to the district. Speaking on the occasion, he said all regions were equal to him. He has been continuing to exert pressure on the central government for provision of gas to both the Seemandhra and Telangana projects
