AP CM greets people on Telugu language day

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today conveyed his wishes to Telugu people all over the world on the eve of ‘Telugu Language Day’.

The birth anniversary of late Gidugu Ramamurthy, who campaigned for simplifying Telugu, is celebrated as the ‘Telugu Language Day’ (August 29) every year.

AP power crisis: TDP holds protests at state assembly

Stepping up their campaign on ongoing power crisis in Andhra Pradesh, the main opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today held a protest on the premises of state assembly here.

The TDP legislators sought to organise the protest at the Gandhi statue on the assembly premises, but were prevented from doing so following which irate TDP MLC N Rajakumari went atop the assembly building but came down following persuasion by the officials.

PM aided in plunder of coal:Chandrababu

TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu has alleged hat Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh had abetted the plunder of coal from mines of the country.

Talking to the media here on Tuesday, the TDP chief said it was shameful that the Prime Minister himself was involved in the coal scam. Charging the UPA government with burying itself deep in corruption, Naidu has reminded that the government has spent money to buy MPs to its side, to survive the no-trust motion on the agreement with the USA on atomic cooperation.

TDP MLC Rajakumari climbs atop TDLP building, threatens to jump

TDP senior leader Nannapaneni Rajakumari on Tuesday created commotion by climbing atop the TDP Legislature Party building on the Assembly premises.

Demanding that the State government solve the prevailing severe power crisis, the TDP leaders launched a protest on the Assembly premises. The party leaders Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Revanth Reddy, Devineni Umamaheshwara Rao and several other legislators participated in the agitation program.

Governor tours villages in Nalgonda district

Governor ESL Narasimhan here on Tuesday said the government would strengthen the handloom cooperative societies by providing adequate assistance. He also called upon the DWCRA women to avail of the benefits under several welfare programs launched by the government.

CM Sanctions Rs 80 Crores For Rajahmundry Airport

The Chief Minister ordered administrative sanction of an additional amount of Rs 80 crore towards land acquisition for development of Rajahmundry Airport. He also agreed to fill the existing vacancies of 51 Assistant Engineer posts in the APCPDCL by direct recruitment.

Police officer alleges harassment by senior cop in AP

Rampachodavaram Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Navin Kumar has accused the SP of East Godavari C M Thrivikram Varma of harassing him.

Navin Kumar, an IPS officer and subordinate to the East Godavari SP, claimed there was a threat to his life and alleged that Varma was obstructing him from carrying out his duties of checking “illegal” ganja smuggling in Rampachodavaram area.

Entrance test for Civil Services Coaching at MANUU on Sept 23

The Civil Services Examination Coaching Academy of Moulana Azad National Urdu University has invited applications from the eligible minority and women Graduate candidates for one year Integrated Extensive Residential Coaching programme for Prelims-cum-Mains of Civil Services Exam 2013.

The coaching will commence from October 8. The Entrance Test for admission will be held on September 23 at Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Srinagar. Short listed candidates will be interviewed at the MANUU Campus in the city on October 3 for final selection.

AP is second most-favorite destination for foreign investors: ASSOCHAM

With about 19 per cent share in the total foreign direct investment (FDI) proposed in 2011-12, Andhra Pradesh has emerged as the second most favorite investment destination for overseas investors across India, apex industry body ASSOCHAM said on Monday.

With FDI proposals worth about Rs 33,936 crore, about 70 FDI proposals were filed by the foreign investors in Andhra Pradesh, according to a state-wise analysis of the proposed FDI and the number of FDI proposals filed in India during 2011-12 carried out by The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM).

Shankar Rao condemns criticism against YSR

Former minister Dr P Shankar Rao on Monday advised the Congress leaders to restrain themselves from leveling allegations against former chief minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

Talking to media persons at Assembly’s media point, Dr Shankar Rao supported the statement of YSR Congress party honorary president Y Vijayamma wherein she said that the ministers who are now leveling allegations could not even look into the eyes of YSR if he would have been alive. It is unethical and immoral to target a person who is not alive, he said.

3 arrested for impersonation in DSC exam

Three persons were arrested on charge of impersonation while attempting to write DSC written test on behalf of one Suresh Kumar Reddy of Visakhapatnam district at the Saint Ann’s High School in Jagannaickpur here today.

East Godavari District Collector Neethu Kumary said all the three were handed over to the One town police.

YSRCP Calls For State-Wide Bandh On Aug 31: Power Crisis

TRS Wants Kapu Rajaiah Award Constituted

TRS senior leader and Siddipet MLA T. Harish Rao on Sunday demanded that the State government constitute an award in the name of world-famous painting artiste of Telangana region late Kapu Rajaiah.

Tension At MGM On Arrival Of Ministers

Tension prevailed at the MGM hospital here on Sunday when the TRS MLAs and party workers staged a dharna protesting against the alleged negligence of the doctors and lack of amenities resulting in the deaths of children.

TRS MLAs Vinaya Bhaskar and Rajaiah led a large number of party activists in the protest when a group of ministers arrived here on a fact-finding mission into the deaths of children.

The TRS activists had heated argument with the police, who asked the protestors to leave the place. Police later arrested the MLAs and other activists and cleared the area.

YSRCP politicising reservation for BCs, alleges Devender Goud
