Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today assured the physically challenged persons that the government will extend all help to them to stand on their own feet by utilizing the welfare schemes. While interacting with physically challenged people at Devarakadra during his sixth leg of ‘Indiramma Baata’ here, the Chief Minister said the government was committed to address all issues of disabled persons in a phased manner and the government has released Rs 212 crore for their welfare in the budget.

Shankar Rao demands additional security in view of threat calls

Former Minister Dr P Shankar Rao on Friday demanded that the State Government provide security to him as he was receiving threatening calls from unknown persons.

Talking to media persons in the Assembly premises, Dr Shankar Rao said he wrote letters to Director General of Police V Dinesh Reddy and City Commissioner of Police Anurag Sharma seeking protection to his life in the wake of threatening calls. Stating that his security has been reduced, he asked the government to provide additional security to him besides the existing security personnel.

‘Demand for separate Andhra state gaining momentum’

The demand for separate Andhra Pradesh by bifurcating the state, is gaining momentum with Andhra Joint Action Committee (AJAC), led by former Home Minister and Congress leader Vasantha Nageswara Rao organising a public meeting at Nandigama on September 14 at Nandigama. Releasing a wall poster in connection with the meeting at a press conference here today, he said the agitation for separate Andhra Pradesh state, comprising Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra Pradesh regions, would be intensified. He asked leaders of national parties, including the ruling Congress, Opposition BJP.

Malignant campaign against YSRCP by Congress and TDP: Vijayayamma

YSR Congress party honorary president Y S Vijaya Lakshmi alias Vijayamma alleged that a malicious campaign had been launched by the Telugu Desam and Congress party against YSRCP as its popularity is growing.

Addressing a huge public meeting, organised on the occasion of joining of TDP and Congress leaders in the YSRCP at Pamarru, about 40 KM from here today, she alleged that Gobbel’s propaganda was launched against the YSRCP that it would merge in the Congress party.

Two Maoists among seven held

Two Maoists among seven people were arrested here Moday for allegedly firing on a police official in Andhra Pradesh’s Khammam district, police said.

The Maoists are identified as M Chukka and Makkammudda, they said.

The duo was part of a 150-member Naxal group from Chhattisgarh which fired on a police official belonging to Mothugudem in May.

APCC Chief Botcha Satyanarayana has said that separate Telangana State would have been carved out already had the Telugu Desam party gave a letter to the Centre in favor of Telangana State.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Tuesday, Botcha clarified as the Congress was the ruling party it cannot give any letter to that effect. Reiterating that the Congress would solve the problem if TDP sends a letter to the Centre, Botcha said the main Opposition party was contemplating to give such a letter to the Centre on for political gain.

VHR accuses KVP of misleading Congress HC

Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao on Tuesday accused former Advisor to Government KVP Ramchander Rao of misleading the Congress High Command.

Talking to reporters at his residence at Amberpet, Hanumantha Rao said that KVP was deliberately misleading the Congress High Command over several issues. Describing KVP’s book on former Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s padayatra as fake, he said YSR never had the habit of writing the diary. “Who benefitted from the YSR’s diary release?” he asked KVP.

HC admits petition seeking probe into Satya Sai Trust Board affairs u

A public interest petition has been filed in the High Court seeking probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the alleged irregularities committed by some members of Sri Satya Sai Baba Central Trust and into the demise of Bhagawan Sri Satya Sai Baba at Puttaparthi in April last year.

Admitting the petition of K Ramesh, a Satya Sai Baba devotee and businessman for trial, the court asked him whether the Satya Sai Trust comes under the purview of Endowment Department and posted the petition for next hearing on 17.

TUF extends support to JAC’s Telangana March

Andhra CM, Guv hail country’s 100th space mission

Andhra Pradesh Governor E S L Narasimhan and Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today hailed the successful launch of PSLV C-21 rocket, the 100th indigenous space mission of the country.

In a message, the Governor congratulated the ISRO space scientists and engineers on their successful launch and noted that this was the 100th space vehicle lunched by the organisation, after the launch of India’s first indigenous satellite ‘Aryabhatta’ in 1975.

MRPS to launch movement for Muslim Reservation

The Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi will launch a massive movement demanding reservation for the Muslim community in the State.
