Local body polls may be conducted on party symbol

After getting Supreme Court’s nod, the State Government is gearing up to conduct the local body elections at the earliest. However, this time the elections may be conducted on party lines.

Talking to reporters here, Labour Minister Danam Nagender said that the proposal to conduct the local bodies elections was being studied and a decision would be taken soon after consulting the experts.

TRS bus yatra to Mahboobnagar today

Senior TRS leader and Siddipet MLA T. Harish Rao has said his party would take out a Bus Yatra with 20 legislators to Mahbubnagar to make Wednesday’s “Sadak Bandh” a total success.

Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, Harish Rao warned that the Chief Minister would be held responsible for the consequences if his government filed cases against the agitators on account of the Bandh. He also made it clear that it would be the collective responsibility of the Telangana ministers to ensure that no cases are registered against the agitators.

VH urges CM to resume land from Brother Anil

Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member V Hanumanth Rao has demanded that the State Government take back the lands allotted to former chief minister late Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s son-in-law Christian preacher Bro. Anil Kumar at Manikonda and restore them to the land owners.

On Tuesday, Hanumantha Rao, along with the alleged victims of Bro. Anil Kumar lodged a complaint with the Ranga Reddy district deputy collector urging him to order an inquiry into the land issue.

Security tightened for Rahul Gandhi’s visit

Security arrangements have been tightened for Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s visit here tomorrow.

Gandhi, who arrived in the state today and met party workers from western Odisha at Sambalpur, is scheduled to come here on Tuesday morning.

BJP demands immediate release of notification on local body elections

BJP state president G. Kishan Reddy, demanded government to immediately release notification to conduct local body elections, basing on the interim-orders issued by supreme court. He also demanded YSRCP leaders Sharmila and Anil to prove their sincerity with regard to allegations made by his party’s spokesperson NVVS Prabhakar.

Speaking to the media persons at the state secretariat on Monday, he recalled that court has given a verdict in his party’s favor when it has filed case three times earlier, opposing religious reservations granted to Muslims.

3 farmers die because of lightning strike in Guntur district

Yesterday’s unexpected torrential rain in Guntur district claimed the lives of three farmers, official sources said. N Anjeneyulu (40) and G Edu Kondalu (40) were struck by lightening when they were in the field, covering the harvested chili crop with tarpaulin. At Mulakaluru village, J Govindh (45) died after being struck by lightning as he was returning home after collecting harvested cotton. Cotton and chili crops in the district have been damaged due to the unseasonal rain, officials said. PTI

Errabelli says KCR will sell party to congress

Telangana TDP convener Errabelli Dayakar Rao has lashed out at TRS Chief K Chandrasekhara Rao saying that the latter lacked interest in formation of Telangana State.

Speaking to the media here on Sunday, Errabelli said the Congress abandoned its word on Telangana. He advised all political parties to fight unitedly to achieve separate Telangana keeping their flags aside. Alleging that KCR wanted 100 Assembly seats to achieve separate State, Errabelli said the former would sell his party to the Congress after winning 100 seats.

AP rights body issues notices to East Godavari Collector, SP

Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission (APSHRC) today issued notices to the East Godavari Collector and Superintendent of Police in connection with a clash between villagers and police over a proposed power plant in the coastal district. Acting on a petition filed by some villagers, the APSHRC ordered issuance of notices and directed them to file a report before it by April 4. Over 100 people were injured when villagers, opposing a proposed power plant in Bikkavolu, clashed with police during a public hearing near Kakinada on February 6.

“UDYAMAM”-another on T movement

TRS Chief K Chandrashekar Rao has inaugurated the shooting of a film called ‘Udyamam’ here on Wednesday. The film was being made based on the Telangana movement. Participating as a chief guest, KCR has clapped the film and inaugurated the shooting of the film.

Judge files plaint against court staffer for tampering records

A civil court judge has filed a criminal complaint against a clerk for allegedly tampering with the court records, police said today.

“Principal junior civil judge Ramakrishna filed the complaint against junior bench assistant Ramanayya for allegedly forging his signatures on some court orders”, said an officer attached to Rayachoty town station.

According to the complaint, Ramanayya, who was transferred in November last, forged the judge’s signatures in as many as 23 cases.

Continuing his advocacy for an integrated State, Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal said that many people in Telangana too want an integrated state.

Rajagopal was on the North coastal Andhra tour to raise public opinion on Samaikhyanadhra. He began the Bus yatra from the airport and will tour the region to spread the message of an integrated state. People underwent huge losses due to frequent agitations in Telangana, he said.

TRS floor leader in the Assembly Etela Rajendar here on Tuesday alleged that the Congress has been cheating the people of the Telangana region from the beginning on formation of separate Telangana State.

Speaking to mediapersons here, Rajendar said Telangana State would come into being only after the Congress was buried in the region. He also warned the Telangana critics of dire consequences if they made rash remarks.

TGV For Special Package For R’seema

The minor irrigation minister T.G. Venkatesh has demanded the government to grant a special package for Rayalaseema, irrespective of the state bifurcation issue. He threatened that agitations would also take place in Seema-Andhra, if the centre declares T-state.

East Godavari District Collector and special officer of Kakinada city municipal corporation Neethu Kumary today suspended Sanitary Inspector and Maistry of seventh circle faulting them for the deteriorating sanitation in the area.

Chief Whip ridicules opposition’s adjournment motions

Government Chief Whip Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy on Thursday ridiculed the opposition parties for introducing adjournment motions in the Assembly on the Central government issues.

Talking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party office, Venkataramana Reddy accused the opposition parties of intentionally moving adjournment motions to divert the attention of House from the public issues. No plans to rehabilitate people in coastal areas: Raghuveera Reddy

Revenue Minister Dr N Raghuveera Reddy on Thursday stated that there was no proposal with the State Government to provide rehabilitation to the people of coastal areas. However, he said two Saline Embankments in Krishna districts have been proposed to be taken up under National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project (NCRMP).
