9-yr old girl gives birth

Beijing, January 30: A nine-year old girl has given birth to a healthy child in northeast China, making it possibly the first case of childbirth at such a young age.

The mother and the 2.75kg baby are doing well after the caesarean operation at a hospital in Changchun in Jilin province.

The Changchun-based City Evening News reported the girl’s parents have sought legal help. Under Chinese law, anyone having sex with a girl under the age of 14 is convicted of rape.

Student offers virginity for sale to pay university fees

Wellington, January 30: A 19-year-old New Zealand student is offering her virginity for sale to the highest bidder on an auction website to raise money for her university fees, a newspaper reported Saturday.

“Unigirl,” as she calls herself, says she is attractive, has never had a sexual relationship and is still a virgin.

“I am offering my virginity by tender to the highest bidder as long as all personal safety aspects are observed,” she says on the I Need website ineed.co.nz, which is based in the North Island city of Hamilton.

Woman alive but declared dead

Kolkata, January 27: Furious relatives of a patient admitted in a state-run hospital held an impromptu agitation after it wrote out a wrong death certificate when she was actually battling for her life.

Mariam Bibi was admitted to SSKM hospital with ulcer Monday. “At around 7.30 p.m. we received a call from hospital officials informing us that Mariam’s condition was serious. When we reached the hospital we saw a death certificate has already been issued although Mariam was alive and doing fine,” said a relative of Mariam Bibi.

Man admits giving kittens to dog to kill

Wellington, January 25: A New Zealand man admitted in court Monday to tossing five kittens to his pit bull dog to kill.

Te Ahu Mankelow, 30, pleaded guilty in the Gisborne District Court to five charges of wilfully ill treating an animal in September.

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, which brought the charges, told the court that Mankelow took the 6-to-10-week-old kittens from a cardboard box on the back of a truck at a party.

Woman kills boyfriend by sitting on him

Clevelanda, January 24: A Woman weighing 136kg has pleaded guilty to killing her much smaller boyfriend – by sitting on him.

Police in Cleveland said Mia Landingham and Mikal Middleston-Bey, who have three children together, got into an argument in August.

During the altercation Landingham sat on Middleston-Bey, who weighed 54.4kg.

Landingham was sentenced to three years probation and 100 hours community service on Wednesday after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter, Fox8 reported.

She was immediately released from jail.

Farmer kills 51 cows before committing suicide

New York, January 23: State police in New York said an upstate dairy farmer shot and killed 51 of his milk cows in his barn before turning the rifle on himself.

State police found the body of 59-year-old Dean Pierson in his Copake barn Thursday.

A visitor found a note Pierson had left on the barn door that said not to come in and to call police.

The Register-Star reported state police would only say that Pierson was having personal issues.

The upstate hamlet of Copake is about 115 miles (185 kilometers) north of New York City.

Air france charge double to Obese passengers

Paris, January 22: Obese passengers who are unable to squeeze into a single plane seat are to be charged double to fly with Air France.

Overweight flyers will be asked to pay for two seats, or not be allowed on board for ‘safety reasons’, the airline announced today.

Air France spokeswoman Monique Matze added: ‘People who arrive at the check-in desk and are deemed too large to fit into a single seat will be asked to pay for and use a second seat.

Bus-riding UK cat dies in hit-n-run

Plymouth, January 20: A CAT which became famous for catching the same bus every day for four years has been run over and killed — while crossing the road to catch its daily lift.

Crafty Casper died in a hit – and- run accident as he tried to board the No. 3 service. He hopped on the bus around 10 am every morning and sat on the back seat throughout its entire 11 mile route.

The freeloading feline would travel around his home city of Plymouth, Devon, for up to an hour before arriving back at the same stop.

Lucknow, December 24: Uttar Pradesh is notorious for its affluent politicians and bureaucrats. Now a new report by the state vigilance department says even clerks in the state government have been found owning assets far beyond their known and legitimate sources of income.

According to the report, “as many as 364 clerks have been identified as ‘crorepatis’ (multi-millionaires) at the state headquarters alone”.

A senior vigilance official told IANS Thursday that “the list of these clerks would shortly be submitted to higher-ups for suitable action”.

Breast milk sells on black market

Melbourne, December 22: A black market in breast milk is booming as parents Down Under are desperate to feed their babies the natural elixir.

They are being charged up to $1000 a litre on the internet. Breast milk provides antibodies that protect babies against diseases and is especially important for premature babies.

One of the mothers contacted the Gold Coast based Mother’s Milk Bank to ask what the real “going rate” was for breast milk after online sellers sought an exorbitant amount when she placed a web advert seeking human milk.

Most women buy clothes knowing they won’t wear them: Study

London, December 20: Women’s fascination for new clothes has long been established. Now, a new study has said that nearly 80 per cent of them buy something knowing that they would never wear them.

The survey, which interviewed 1,623 women aged 18-30 in Britain, also found that 91 per cent of women have an item in their cupboard that still has the tags on.

More over, a quarter wear only 10 per cent of the clothes in their wardrobes, according to the findings of the survey commissioned by Mycelebrityfashion.co.uk.
