A new study says that nine out of 10 women admit to making grooming mistakes such as washing hair daily to bring more volume to it or plucking eyebrows too close to the mirror to get a perfect shape.

The study has been conducted by professional hair care website Hairtrade.com, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

“We all make hair and beauty mistakes but the good news is they can easily be put right and by doing so, may even save you time and money,” said a spokeswoman from Hairtrade.com.

Chinese woman had bullet lodged in head for 48 years

A Chinese woman had a bullet lodged in her head for 48 years without her knowledge.

She has finally got it removed by doctors, News.com.au reported.

The 62-year-old woman, identified in local media only by her surname Zhao, had a bullet 2.5cm long and 0.5cm in diameter extracted from her head.

She had gone to the doctors complaining about a chronic stuffy nose, headaches and swollen lymph nodes that had bothered her for 10 years.

The question of how she went 48 years without knowing about the bullet resulted in conflicting media reports.

A naked woman was recently spotted jogging down a busy London high street and a bus passenger caught it all on camera. Elijah Bailey, a E3 bus passenger was taken aback to see a naked woman jogging down Uxbridge Road, West London, Metro.co.uk reported.

Bailey said that she had no remorse on her face. The bus passenger further added that Police stopped the naked runner outside Deans Park, however, she was calm with it as if they wanted the time or some of her energy drink Lucozade. (ANI)

US reports rare case of woman-to-woman HIV transmission

A rare case of suspected HIV transmission from one woman to another was reported today by US health authorities.

The 46-year-old woman “likely acquired” human immunodeficiency virus while in a monogamous relationship with an HIV-positive female partner in Texas, said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The woman, whose name was not released, had engaged in heterosexual relationships in the past, but not in the 10 years prior to her HIV infection.

Women with history of gestational diabetes at higher risk of heart disease in midlife

A new study has found that women who have had a history of gestational diabetes are more prone to experiencing heart ailments later in life than women who did not experience gestational diabetes.

Erica P. Gunderson, study lead author and senior research scientist in the Kaiser Permanente Division of Research in Oakland, Calif., said that their study shows that just having a history of gestational diabetes elevates a woman”s risk of developing early atherosclerosis before she develops type 2 diabetes or metabolic syndrome.

Brit women own shoes worth 25 billion pounds

A poll has revealed that an average woman in UK own 19 pairs of shoes and the country’s complete shoe collection is worth a whopping 25 billion pounds.

It was revealed that if the enormous shoe collection were placed next to each other they would stretch round the Earth’s circumference almost three times, the Daily Express reported.

The poll, which was conducted by Mode in Pelle on 1,000 women, also found that women of Birmingham wear the highest heels, with an average height of 2.7 inches. (ANI)

Obese teenage girls are lower academic achievers: study

Obese adolescent girls have lower academic attainment levels throughout their teenage years, according to a new study.

The results of the research conducted by the Universities of Dundee, Strathclyde, Georgia and Bristol showed that girls who were obese, as measured by BMI (body mass index) at age 11 had lower academic attainment at 11, 13, and 16 years when compared to those with healthy weight.

Attainment in the core subjects of English, Maths and Science for obese girls was lower by an amount equivalent to a D instead of a C, which was the average in the sample.

A survey has revealed that most women want their partners to be at least 5 inches taller than them.

Almost one in five respondents said that a gap between four and six inches was the best match in the couple’s height and five inches was the ideal, the Daily Star reported.

According to the survey, 70 percent of women feel comfortable in a relationship where their man is taller than them, while only a quarter of women and 35 percent of men said that height didn’t matter.

Amanda Rodgers , who has been divorced once, said that her loyal pet terrier, Sheba, has been in her life for years, making her laugh and comforting her when she was feeling low, Metro.co.uk reported.

The 47-year-old said that she went down on her knee and proposed to her dog, which said yes to her by wagging her tail.

Women dominating social media: Survey

In line with the occasion of International Women”s Day, it has been revealed by a new survey that women dominate social media.

FinancesOnline.com, in its survey analyzing approaches to social networks between the genders, has found that US women were more adept at social media sites and the only site where men surpass the womenfolk was LinkedIn. According to News24, the survey revealed that while 24 percent of men engaged with the career platform, only 19 percent of women spent their time on the site.

Massachusetts changes law to make all upskirt shots illegal

A few days after the Supreme Judicial Court in Massachusetts issued a letter-of-the-law ruling which allowed a man accused of taking “upskirt” photos to avoid prosecution, the legislature changed the letter of the law.

Governor Deval Patrick signed the bill Friday, and made it illegal to secretly take photographs or videos under someone’s clothing, Techhive reported.

The old law prohibited people living in Massachusetts from “photographing, videotaping, or electronically surveilling a nude or partially nude person.”

Kerala branch of women’s bank to open on Monday

The Bharatiya Mahila Bank’s Kerala branch would open here Monday, an official said Saturday. M.C. Maya, the banks’ deputy general manager, said currently there are 12 such branches in the country and this would go up to 25 by the end of this fiscal on March 31. Each state will have branch.

The women’s bank is 100 percent owned by the central government with a capital of Rs.1,000 crore. It has been formed for the economic empowerment of women.

British women are ditching classic red lipsticks for softer, more muted “nude” shades, just like celebrity chef Nigella Lawson.

The natural look as portrayed by “Domestic Goddess” Lawson on the cover of this month’s Vogue magazine is becoming the norm.

For the first time in three years, nude lipsticks are outselling bright red shades, High Street chain Debenhams said.

Sales of sheer, natural shades are up 62 percent compared with this time last year, the Daily Express reported.

Topping the list of what women want, the fairer sex wants most of all family friendly working hours, a new study suggests.

A 10-year study by the Heat Group, commissioned for International Women’s Day, tracked key changes in attitudes and lifestyle choices over a decade and found females want the freedom to focus on what matters to them.

For almost half of respondents, that involves working fewer hours, while 40 percent of women want more flexible working arrangements, News.com.au reported.

Lily Allen has confessed that she thinks feminism isn’t a word that should exist in the year 2014.

The 28-year-old singer told Shortlist Magazine that that she hates that word because it shouldn’t even be a thing anymore, as everybody is equal, the Independent reported.

The ‘Dream a Little Dream’ hitmaker said that she wonders why there is even a conversation about feminism and what the man version of feminism is, and that such a word doesn’t even exist.
