Women crime less in male-dominated societies!

Feminists would take this with a grain of salt as a new study has found that rates of rape, sexual assault and homicide are actually lower in societies with more men than women.

Male-biased sex ratio does not lead to more crime, the study found.

In societies where men outnumber women, the men do not necessarily resort to violent competition for the limited number of mates, said the study.

“Evidence does not support a relationship between violence and a short supply of women,” said Ryan Schacht, a doctoral researcher at University of California, Davis.

“Teaching women to examine their breasts regularly has been shown not to reduce deaths from breast cancer and actually increases the chances of a benign biopsy result,” claimed Margaret McCartney, a Glasgow-based general practitioner.

A derivative of vitamin A, known as retinoic acid, found abundantly in sweet potato and carrots, helps turn pre-cancer cells back to normal healthy breast cells, a new study has found.

The research could help explain why some clinical studies have been unable to see a benefit of vitamin A on cancer: the vitamin does not appear to change the course of full-blown cancer, only pre-cancerous cells, and only works at a very narrow dose.

A new survey has found that women shell out a staggering 40,000 pounds over their lifetime on getting ready for nights out.

The survey, conducted by beauty retailer hairtrade.com, claimed that women spend the amount on all the cosmetics and accessories they need to look and feel good, the Daily Star reported.

High temperature reduces length of pregnancy: Study

If you are pregnant and wish a full-term delivery, it is better to shift to a colder place before the mercury goes up as high temperature may reduce the length of your pregnancy, research indicates.

When temperatures reach 32 degrees celsius or higher over a period of four to seven days, the risk of early-term delivery is 27 percent higher than on typical summer days.

“Small-scale studies suggest that heat-induced stress increases uterine contractility, during a period of pregnancy when thermoregulation seems less effective,” said Nathalie Auger from University of Montreal in Canada.

Dubai-born beauty Parul Shah wins Miss Philippines Tourism title

Parul Shah has been crowned Miss Philippines Tourism at the Miss Philippines 2014 pageant.

The daughter of a Dubai-based expats had made it as one of the 15 finalists in last year’s pageant but failed to bag a title, has won Philippines’ most coveted beauty pageant this year, Gulf News reported.

In a previous interview, she had revealed that winning the title had always been her dream.
