Bihar woman sells 15-day-old to arrange for dowry

In a shocking incident, an elderly woman allegedly sold her infant grandson for Rs.50,000 to arrange for dowry for her daughter’s marriage in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district, police said Saturday.

An FIR was lodged by Rukhsana Khatoon, whose 15-day-old child was allegedly sold by her mother-in-law to raise money for dowry for her daughter’s marriage, district police official Pramod Kumar Singh said.

“Police have began an investigation into the incident after a case was lodged,” said Singh.

By 2050, it will be more difficult for Indian women to find an eligible partner, particularly if they have been educated at university or college-level,according to new research.

The research published in the journal ‘Demography’ theorises that if current social norms persist by 2050 whereby university-educated or college-educated men are more desirable spouses than women similarly educated, there will be a ‘mis-match’ in numbers of ‘suitable’ men and women.

Facebook blocks pages insulting Prophet Mohammed (PBUH)

Facebook has reportedly blocked several pages that seem to insult the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) following orders by a Turkish court.

According to the Verge, the court had ordered Facebook to close the offending pages in a ruling handed down Sunday, threatening to block access to the social network if it failed to comply.

The move comes amid this month’s attack on the offices of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo , believed to have been carried out in response to blasphemous cartoons published by the magazine on its cover page.

Petition filed in US court to designate RSS as terror group
