Sanjay Dutt to leave Pune”s Yerawada Jail to spend time with unwell wife

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who is currently lodged in Pune”s Yerawada Jail for his role in the 1993 serial bomb blasts in Mumbai, has been granted a month”s parole to spend time with his ill wife Maanayata.

Yogesh Desai, the Jail Superintendent of Yerawada Jail, said Dutt had submitted an application for the present parole along with his request for a medical furlough in October.

Uncertainty over fresh parole for Sanjay Dutt

Uncertainty looms over the fresh parole granted to imprisoned Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt as the state government Saturday sought a report on the issue, officials said here.

The parole for Dutt, apparently approved by the Pune divisional commissioner, has evoked strong reactions from various quarters.

State Home Minister R.R. Patil has sought a report from the concerned departments to ascertain whether Dutt was eligible for a month’s parole on grounds that his wife Maanyata was ill.

Imran, Avantika expecting their first baby next year

Actor Imran Khan and his wife Avantika are expecting their first baby next year.

The couple tied the knot in January 2011 after a ten-year-relationship.

“Avantika and Imran will soon become parents as the delivery is due in June next year,” sources close to the actor told PTI.

Reportedly, Avantika was sick a few months ago and was suspected to be suffering from dengue.

After the check-up, she tested positive for the disease and also came to know that she is in the family way.

Actor Sanjay Dutt granted month-long parole

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who is currently lodged in Yerawada jail here in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts case, has been granted a month-long parole, district authorities said today.

Dutt, undergoing sentence for his conviction under the Arms Act in the 1993 blasts, had applied for parole to the Pune Divisional Commissioner Prabhakar Deshmukh in whom the authority to grant parole is vested.

Naseeruddin Shah plays Pakistani diplomat in new play ‘Walk in the woods’

Naseeruddin Shah played the role of a Pakistani diplomat in a theatre play, titled ‘ A walk in the woods’ at Alhamra Hall in Lahore.

The play is staged on two actors, Pakistani and an Indian Diplomat, who hold private meetings in the woods and try to achieve a breakthrough in the muddled negotiations between Pakistan and India.

The play was staged by Faiz Foundation Trust in collaboration with Lahore Arts Council and Motely Theatre Production, the Daily Times reported.

Uday Chopra may direct Hollywood film

Actor Uday Chopra, who is busy taking care of his home banner Yash Raj Films’ (YRF) Hollywood wing, says he plans to direct a film and it may be a Hollywood project. But he also has his heart set on remaking his late father and veteran filmmaker Yash Chopra’s “Kala Patthar”.

In an upcoming episode of ‘Koffee with Karan’, host Karan Johar grilled Ranbir on whom he regards as his competitor.

Karan told Ranbir that there is an influx of talent like Aditya Roy Kapur, Sushant Singh Rajput, Varun Dhawan, Ranveer Singh and Siddharth Malhotra, but he (Ranbir) is touted as the (best) actor of this generation.

‘Happy Feet Two’ choreographer taught Aamir tap dancing

Actor Aamir Khan, who has impressed with his tap dancing number in “Dhoom 3”, learned the skill from acclaimed Australian choreographer Dein Perry.

Aamir, who plays a negative role in the movie, flew all the way to Australia to learn the grungy tap dance, which is high on energy and more difficult than the classic tap dance.

The actor spent some with Perry, who also choreographed for movie “Happy Feet Two” and the opening act of Sydney 2000 Olympics.

Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra says it is necessity to be part of 100 crore films in order to be commercially viable in the industry.

“I always try to do films which I find interesting. But, we also have to be part of the 100 or 200 crore films to be commercially viable, so that we can go and do women oriented films. It is a give and take thing,” Priyanka said today.

HC rejects Ramesh Sippy’s plea to stay Sholay’s 3D release

The Bombay High Court rejected Bollywood producer Ramesh Sippy’s plea seeking a stay on the release of Sholay’s 3D version made by his nephew Sasha over a copyright dispute.

In a notice of motion on his suit against Sasha and others, Sippy had recently filed an appeal before a division bench against the judgement of Justice Kathawala who had earlier rejected Sippy’s petition on the same issue.

Upholding the single bench’s judgement here today, a division bench of Justices S F Vajifdar and G S Patel refused to stay the production and release of the movie’s 3D version.

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan has touched a new benchmark on his Twitter fan following which has risen to over six millions.

The 48-year-old actor, who has beaten his competitors including Salman Khan (5,636,870) and Aamir Khan (5,105,283) on the micro-blogging site, thanked his fans for their love and support.
