Myth that married women don’t get film roles: Madhuri Dixit

It`s true that Madhuri Dixit took a break from acting following her marriage in 1999, but the dancing diva is back and how! She says it`s a myth that married women don`t get roles in the film industry.

“I think married women always got roles. Sharmilaji (Sharmila Tagore) worked after marriage, Meena Kumari also worked and Rakhi worked after marriage. These are just myths and not true all the time,” Madhuri said here in an interaction.

CBFC to re-consider its certification to ‘Ramleela’: Bombay High Court

Observing that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) did not apply its mind while granting certification to Sanjay Leela Bhansali`s `Goliyon ki Rasleela–Ramleela`, the Bombay High Court on Wednesday directed it to re-consider the U/A status given to the movie.

A division bench of Justices VM Kanade and MS Sonak directed the CBFC to consider whether guidelines of the Cinematograph Act were followed before granting certification to Bhansali`s movie.

Salman Khan is growing as an actor: Aamir Khan

Superstar Aamir Khan feels that Salman Khan is growing as an actor with every film.

“I have noticed that over the last two-three years his (Salman Khan) work has improved a lot. I loved his `Dabangg`. I think he is growing as an actor,” Aamir told reporters here.

Salman will be seen next in Sohail Khan`s `Jai Ho` and Aamir is waiting to see the film, which releases next month.

“Whenever Salman`s films release we all eagerly await its release and like all of you I too am a fan of his. I have not seen the promo of `Jai Ho` but I will watch it today,” Aamir said.

Work has taken a backseat post marriage: Raveena Tandon

Raveena Tandon has done only a handful of films since her marriage and the actress blames her personal commitments for taking precedence over the professional ones.

Raveena, 39, who has two children with husband Anil Thadani and two adopted kids, says she is is in no hurry to do films at this point of time.

“For me, work did take a backseat after marriage. I can’t afford to take up such projects at this point of time which will keep me away from my home for long. I am not in hurry to do more films. I will only do those projects, whose schedules suit me,” Raveena told PTI.

Jeetendra honored at UTV’s `Walk Of The Stars`

UTV Stars’ Walk of the Stars unveiled Jeetendra’s hand impression tile in Mumbai.

The 71-year-old chairman of the Balaji Telefilms has been honored for his priceless contribution to the Indian film industry, UTV Motion Pictures reported.

Trisha new ambassador of CCL team Chennai Rhinos

Actress Trisha Krishnan, known for southern films such as “Ghilli” and “Okkadu”, has been chosen as the star ambassador of the Chennai Rhinos team for the upcoming fourth edition of the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL).

“Trisha will be the ambassador of our team. We are happy to bring her on board. Since she is from Chennai, we thought it would make sense to rope her in…we are glad it finally materialised,” an official spokesperson of the Chennai Rhinos team told IANS.

Not right to blame anyone: Sussanne on split with Hrithik

Sussanne Roshan Wednesday spoke out against reports that actor Arjun Rampal was a reason behind her split with her husband of 13 years, Hrithik Roshan. She says nobody is to be blamed.

Sussanne couldn’t avoid queries related to the recent announcement of her split with Hrithik, at the launch of Bandra 190, a luxury concept retail boutique co-owned by Sussanne, Seema Khan and Maheep Kapoor here Wednesday.

Waheeda Rehman to be awarded for excellence

Veteran actress Waheeda Rehman will be honoured with an Excellence in Screen Acting Award at the 12th edition of Third Eye Asian Film Festival, which she will inaugurate Jan 3.

The festival will open with Vietnamese film “Koan of Spring”, directed by Lou Ma Ho.

It will also have a special Marathi package of six films premiering in India, said a statement.

The highlight of the festival is Kamal Swaroop’s “Rangbhoomi”, a documentary on the life of Dadasaheb Phalke, called the father of Indian cinema.

The festival will close with the Chinese film “Aftershock”.

As “Dhoom 3” readies to make its stylised entry at the Indian box office Friday, it seems that it will not just impact audiences visually but financially as well.

As the film’s release draws closer, the IMAX screens have set their prices at Rs.400-600 for the morning shows and Rs.700-900 for the night shows, according to their official website.

Airtel Mobitude 2013, the fifth edition of Indian annual survey, reveals that Sunny is the most downloaded actor, both in female and male categories, with a whopping 300 percent more downloads than even superstar Shah Rukh Khan.

“Kamasutra 3D” among 75 songs vying for Original Song Oscar

Five songs from Kerala-based filmmaker Rupesh Paul’s multilingual film ‘Kamasutra 3D’ are among the 75 numbers in contention for nominations in the Original Song category for the 86th Oscars.

The ‘Kamasutra 3D’ has made it to the Best Original Song list with “Aygiri Nadani”, “Har Har Mahadeva”, “I Felt”, “Of The Soil” and “Sawariya”, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced.

The songs were composed by Chennai based music directors, Sachin and Sreejith while its lyrics are penned by Rupesh Paul and Pratyush Prakash.

‘Kick’ is different from Salman’s earlier films: Nadiadwala

Filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala says his upcoming Salman Khan starrer ‘Kick’ will be different from the films that the superstar has done before.

‘Kick’ is a remake of a 2009 Telugu hit of the same name. The masala entertainer film marks producer Sajid Nadiadwala’s debut as a director.

“This film is going to be different. It is completely different from Salman’s films earlier. I will add my style and touch to it,” Sajid told PTI.

Proud father Fardeen Khan can’t stop smiling

After his father Feroz Khan’s death in 2009, Fardeen Khan has been through some tough times. Now there are no more tears for Fardeen and his wife Natasha, who have been blessed with a baby girl and the actor calls the little one his “bundle of joy”.

After years of waiting and a very tragic miscarriage last year which left the couple shattered, Fardeen and Natasha are finally the proud parents. Their daughter was born Dec 11.

“We’ve named her Diani Isabella Khan,” Fardeen said from London.

Bipasha donates autographed T-shirt for animal support

Actress Bipasha Basu has donated an autographed “BB Love Yourself” T-shirt and two free fitness DVDs to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India for an auction.

The products will be auctioned at ebay.com and its proceeds will benefit Animal Rahat, a non-profit group supported by animal rights organisation PETA India.

“Animal Rahat works tirelessly to alleviate or eliminate this suffering, and that’s something I’m proud to get behind,” she added.

Aamir Khan endorses Amartya Sen’s views on Khans

A day after Nobel laureate Amartya Sen reportedly said that Indian media was obsessed with three Khans of Bollywood and not on development and education, actor Aamir Khan today said he accepted that.

“I think he (Amartya Sen) is accurate in saying that. I agree with him,” Aamir Khan said here.

Sen had reportedly said Indian media was obsessed with three Khans of the Bollywood and was not focusing on pressing issues in the country like development and education.

Armaan Kohli arrested from ‘Bigg Boss Saath-7’ house

Actor Armaan Kohli was Monday arrested from the set of “Bigg Boss Saath-7” following a complaint filed by British singer-actress Sofia Hayat for allegedly assaulting her during their stay in the reality show, a police official said.

“Armaan is in the police station and the investigation is going on. He was taken under custody at around 11 p.m. (Monday). The investigation is on and things will be clear after that ,” an official from the Lonavala police station told IANS.

A source from channel Colors, which airs the popular show, too confirmed that Armaan was arrested Monday night.

Aishwarya has always been around: Abhishek

Aishwarya Rai has not been active in films for sometime, but her husband, actor Abhishek Bachchan has not really missed her as he feels the media keeps her in news all the time.

“She (Aishwarya) has always been around. I don’t think you guys (media) will allow anybody to make a comeback. You all cover us so extensively and so well,” Abhishek told IANS in an interview.

The actor said filmmaker Prahlad Kakkar has approached him and Aishwarya for a project, which the two of them are considering individually.

Alia hopes to work with Imtiaz again

Alia Bhatt-starrer “Highway” is yet to release, but the young actress hopes to work with its director Imtiaz Ali again.

“The film was supposed to release earlier, but it got pushed. I told Imtiaz sir that we have time and let’s shoot it again, we can do it. So, if I could work with Imtiaz sir once again, probably ‘Highway’ sequel,” the 20-year-old said here Monday at the first look launch of “Highway”.

Alia says she wants to do the film’s shooting all over again.

“Today also I want to go back to the first day of shoot and I want to do it again,” she said.

I was confused when Imtiaz offered ‘Highway’: Alia Bhatt

Bollywood newbie Alia Bhatt says she was confused when director Imtiaz Ali first approached her for his upcoming film ‘Highway’.

The romantic drama, helmed by Ali, is Alia’s second film after ‘Student of The Year’, which hit the theatres in 2012.

“I was a bit confused when Imtiaz came with the offer. At the same time I was overwhelmed that he came up with a challenging film and role,” Alia told reporters at the launch of the film’s theatrical trailer here tonight.

The 20-year-old actress said she is nervous about how the audience will receive the film, which releases on February 21.

“I wish I could tell you everything about my role. I play a scientist who is actually a little mad. It”s something that I have never seen on screen,” she said.

SRK set to play fan in ‘FAN’

Now almost at the top of the pyramid in Bollywood, superstar Shah Rukh Khan has decided to try something different. The actor will be seen playing a fan in his next film “FAN”.

Attributing his success to the love of his fans, Shah Rukh took to Twitter to talk about his future plans.

“Most of the characters I do, are the ones I create…for the first time I am going to play what has created me…I will be in my next a ‘fan’,” Shah Rukh posted on the microblogging site Monday.
