Get playful with ‘Sholay’ stickers on Facebook

Here’s yet another innovation for film marketing. Iconic Hindi movie “Sholay”, which released in 3D recently, will now entertain users of social networking platform Facebook with specially designed stickers that ‘friends’ can send to each other.

The stickers, which will be launched jointly by Hungama Digital Media Entertainment and Sholay Media Entertainment over the weekend, will have on them the likeness of popular characters of the film — Jai, Veeru, Thakur, Gabbar, Radha and Basanti.

Enjoyed playing Begum Para in ‘Dedh Ishqiya’: Madhuri

Bollywood diva Madhuri Dixit says playing Begum Para, the new femme fatale in Abhishek Chaubey’s ‘Dedh Ishqiya’, was challenging but fun.

“It was a challenging role because I could not go overboard with the character or underplay it. The more complex a character, the more taut a performance needs to be. Playing Begum Para was like a tightrope walk. It had to be just right and I had to constantly keep that in mind,” Madhuri told PTI.

The 46-year-old actress, however, did not find it difficult to master the nuances or the Urdu diction of her character.

Suchitra Sen critical again

Suffering from a respiratory tract infection, veteran actress Suchitra Sen’s health turned critical today, doctors attending to her said.

Stating that the medical condition of the 82-year-old actress, admitted to a super-speciality hospital since December 23, is fluctuating. According to the doctors, her condition worsened last night.

She was stated to be in a stable condition over the last few days but her old-age has complicated the matter and the doctors are being cautious due to diabetes.

Indian films should be making billions: Kamal Haasan

Indian films earning crores should not be seen as a measure of their success as the amount should be much more in a country with a billion plus population, feels Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan.

“It is still the tip of the iceberg. Let’s make a little calculation. It is a country of a billion plus… The average ticket in India is about Rs 100. One crore people watch a film, it is a failure… At least five to six crore will have to watch the film to make it a success and more to make it a superhit,” he said during a session at the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas here.

Actress Kangana Ranaut is a “fashion queen” and “overconfident” in real life unlike her role in the forthcoming movie “Queen”, says its director Vikas Bahl.

“Kangana is overconfident in real life. She is a fashion queen and her approach towards her life is absolutely different (from her character in the movie),” Bahl told IANS.

The actress essays the role of Rani, a shy Punjabi woman in “Queen”.

Uttar Pradesh bans telecast of Madhuri-Salman Saifai event

The Etawah district administration in Uttar Pradesh Wednesday banned the entry of mediapersons and camera crews into the Saifai Mahotsav and telecast of the event where film stars Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit are to perform.

Officials said this was done as performances of these stars were under a contractual obligation and could not be telecast on television channels.

Earlier, Madhuri, Salman, Soha Ali Khan, Alia Bhatt and other Bollywood stars reached the native village of the Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav in a chartered plane.

Bollywood star Aamir Khan, who is the great grand nephew of Muslim scholar and nationalist Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Wednesday said it’s his dream to make a film on the life of the great leader.
