Actor Sanjay Dutt sent back to Pune’s Yerawada Jail

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt on Thursday was sent back to the Yerawada Jail in Pune after the completion of his two weeks furlough.

According to reports, the thespian had sought an extension in his furlough, which had been granted on December 24, 2014. However, the motion was dismissed.

Dutt is serving 42 months of his five year sentence from May 2013 for illegal possession of arms in a case related to the 1993 serial blasts. So far, he has spent over 100 days out of jail between May 2013 to May 2014 either on furlough or parole

At 35, Bipasha Basu says no to College Girl Roles

Actress Bipasha Basu, who has turned 35, says she’s only keen to do roles that suit her and that she’s not game to essaying a college girl on the big screen.

Bipasha, who celebrated her birthday Wednesday, will next be seen in a double role in horror movie “Alone”. She was last seen in “Creature 3D”.

Asked why she’s picking horror films, the bold and beautiful actress said: “If at all anybody offers me a role of a college girl, I won’t do it. It is very frivolous! You have to do roles that suit you.”

She feels that whenever she has essayed “strong roles”, people have liked it.

Nikhil hopes for hat-trick with ‘Surya Vs Surya’

After two back-to-back hits, actor Nikhil Siddhartha, who is experimenting with different scripts, hopes to score a hat-trick with his upcoming Telugu psychological thriller “Surya Vs Surya”.

“People doubted my decision to back different scripts, but it has worked in my favour. The success of ‘Swamy Ra Ra’ and ‘Karthikeya’ has proved that there’s scope for experimental scripts. I hope the success streak continues with my next film as well,” Nikhil told IANS.

Actress Bipasha Basu, who turned 35 Wednesday, considers herself to be the most blessed and says her friends and family have made her feel like a princess.

“Am the most blessed girl in the world! My loved ones make me feel like a Princess,” the “Raaz” star tweeted.

Bipasha, who celebrated her birthday with friends, including ace designer Rocky S, described them as “precious gifts”.

Sanjay Dutt seeks extension of furlough

Actor Sanjay Dutt, a convict in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case who is presently out of jail on a 14-day furlough, has sought extension of his leave from prison authorities.

The 55-year-old actor, convicted in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case for illegally possessing an AK-56 rifle and destroying it, was released on a 14-day leave of furlough by the Yerawada Central Jail authorities on December 24 as he wanted to be with his family in the New Year.

“Ten days back Dutt applied for extension of furlough which is being examined,” a Prisons department official said.

Balki’s scripts have always surprised me: Bachchan

Amitabh Bachchan is teaming up with frequent collaborator R Balki in upcoming film ‘Shamitabh’ and the megastar says he is amazed how the director always comes up with unique scripts.

The 72-year-old actor has previously worked with Balki in films like ‘Cheeni Kum’ in which he played a 60-plus chef in love with a much younger woman and ‘Paa’, which saw him don the role of a child suffering from progeria.

Excited to see Aishwarya back on big screen: Abhishek

Actor Abhishek Bachchan is excited that his wife Aishwarya Rai is making her comeback on the silver screen with Sanjay Gupta’s “Jazbaa”.

Actress Sonam Kapoor says she chooses her projects based on the character she gets, and not by judging whether it would get her an award or not.

Asked about her expectations from her forthcoming project “Dolly Ki Doli”, she said: “I don’t do films for awards. I do it for characters. I want to do different and interesting roles.”

However, she hopes “Dolly Ki Doli” gets critically acclaimed and that “everybody likes it”.

Nothing offensive in ‘PK’ movie, says Delhi High Court

Delhi High Court today said there was nothing offensive in Aamir Khan-starrer film ‘PK’ and there was no substance in allegations that it has defamed and maligned Hindu culture and religious practices.

A bench, comprising Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice R S Endlaw, said there was nothing wrong in the movie and a detailed order would be passed on merits.

“What is wrong in the movie? You cannot take offence at everything. We do not find any substance in the allegations made in the petition. We will pass an order on merits,” the bench said.

Delhi High Court dismisses PIL against Aamir Khan’s ‘PK’, says it isn’t offensive

The Delhi High Court Wednesday dismissed a PIL filed against Raj Kumar Hirani directed and Aamir Khan starrer film ‘PK’, saying “the film was not offensive”.

A division bench of Chief Justice G. Rohini and Justice R.S. Endlaw refused to entertain the plea which sought ban on the film for alleged derogatory remarks against Hindu gods, Hindu beliefs, faith and worship in the movie.

The bench said: “What was wrong in the movie? We don’t find anything offensive in it. We don’t find any substance in the plea.” The court said it will pass a detailed order on the plea later.

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who stars with veteran actress Rekha in R. Balki’s ‘Shamitabh’, says they however don’t share screen space in the film.

“We don’t actually come together… its part of the sequence and when you see the film, you will understand how it’s portrayed. But, yes its always great welcome to have such great luminaries in the film,” he told reporters during the film’s trailer launch.

“Balki keeps saying he wants to design a film with us (Big B and Rekha) but let’s see if somebody comes with interesting script… Why not,” he added.

I’d have to excel like Mahira, Nawaz: SRK on ‘Raees’

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who will star with Pakistani actress Mahira Khan and acclaimed Indian actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the forthcoming film “Raees”, is all praise for them, and says now he would have to pull up his socks to perform as well as the duo.

Actor Dhanush, who will be seen in ‘Shamitabh’, Tuesday said he is ready to experiment with roles in Bollywood as he has nothing to lose here.

Asked why he was doing unconventional roles in Bollywood as opposed to his larger-than-life roles down in southern cinema, Dhanush said: “I have been trying to mix my characters as much as possible down south…. there one image is stuck so I am restricted..

“Here in Bollywood, I have nothing to lose so I experiment with my characters. I am thankful to Balki who has given me this film. I don’t have anything to lose here.”

‘Tevar’ to have taste of Braj area

Artistes from Braj region are looking forward to the Jan 9 release of Bollywood film “Tevar”, shot extensively in Gokul, Mathura, Fatehpur Sikri and Agra.

More than a dozen local artistes have got the opportunity to play bit roles in the movie, which features popular Hindi film actors Sonakshi Sinha, Arjun Kapoor and Manoj Bajpayee.

Film director to sell his movie in his ‘Cinema to home scheme

Lamenting lack of effective action to control video piracy, Tamil film director Cheran today said he would release his film ‘J.K. Enum Nanbanin Vazhkai’ (life of a friend by name J.K.) under his Cinema to Home scheme, which would benefit producers.

Speaking to reporters here, he said he planned to sell the film through 154 distributors at the rate of Rs 50 per DVD and claimed his new strategy would help producers.

In this context, he quoted a survey which said only 14 of the 294 films released last year were successful commercially.

Court completes evidence of another witness in Black Buck case

A local court today recorded the evidence of another prosecution witness in the Salman Khan Black Buck poaching case.

The then Forest Assistant Shiv Charan Bohra appeared in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (rural) whose statements were recorded by the court.

According to Public Prosecutor N K Sankhla, Bohra gave an account of the legal proceedings undertaken following the registration of the case against Khan and others for alleged poaching of the two Black Bucks in Kankani village on the intervening night of October 1-2, 1998.

Big B unveils trailer of ‘Shamitabh’, says new look in film

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan Tuesday unveiled the trailer of R. Balki’s “Shamitabh” in the presence of the entire star cast of the film.

Big B, who will be seen in a different look in this film, said: “For this film we have tried different looks and some international makeup artistes have worked together for this look. We have worked really hard for this film. My makeup artist Deepak Sawant has also worked on my look.”

The 71-year-old actor will be seen in a rugged look with grey unkempt moustaches and beard in “Shamitabh”.

‘MSG – The Messenger…’s music album launched

The music album of Dera Sacha Sauda sect chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s forthcoming film, “MSG – The Messenger of God” was released here Tuesday at the PVR Priya theatre.

The film features the sect chief as a director, actor, writer and music composer.

Ram Rahim Singh, his co-actors Flora Saini and boxer Vijender Singh were among the attendees for the event.

The album, which consists of songs “Never ever”, “Ram Ram”, “Raatan-baatan”, “Daru ko goli maro”, “Papa the great” among others, broke records on online portals like Flipkart and Amazon on its pre-booking.

My next film will be with Sridevi: Boney Kapoor

Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor says his next film after son Arjun Kapoor-starrer ‘Tevar’ will be with his actress wife Sridevi.

Sridevi, who made her Bollywood comeback in 2012 with ‘English Vinglish’, has collaborated with her husband on films like ‘Mr India’, ‘Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja’ and ‘Judaai’.

Boney, 59, said that after the release of ‘Tevar’, which hits theatres this Friday, he will focus on Sridevi’s film.

Jacqueline promises new avatar in ‘Brothers’

Actress Jacqueline Fernandez is ready to surprise the audience. She says her upcoming movies “Roy” and “Brothers” will show her in a different light than her past films.

“Brothers”, directed by Karan Malhotra, is an official remake of the 2011 Hollywood film “Warrior”.

Taapsee Pannu: Balancing Bollywood, southern film world

Actress Taapsee Pannu considers herself “lucky” to have been unanimously accepted in southern filmdom as well as Bollywood in a short span of four years since her cinematic debut in Telugu film “Jhummandi Naadam”.

Currently, Taapsee has four films – two each in Hindi and Tamil – in her kitty.

“I just feel I’ve been wholeheartedly accepted in both the industries. Sometimes when you’re popular in the south, Bollywood may not work out and vice versa. But I think I’ve been lucky,” Taapsee told IANS.

She admits her Bollywood career took off quickly, but she “never expected it”.
