Mahindra Group calls for more investment in e-cars
Mahindra Group, one of India’s largest utility vehicle manufacturer, has called on the government to allocate budgets for setting up infrastructure required to boost eco-friendly electric car usage in India.
“As far as the government is concerned, what we are happy about is that they are trying to push for electric vehicles to be used. It’s on the infrastructure side where we would like to see more effort coming in and the government to sponsor such initiatives,” said Pawan Goenka, Mahindra & Mahindra Group president (auto & farm sector).
Tata Motors’ JLR re-evaluating keyless technology
Tata Motors-owned Jaguar Land Rover is re-evaluating its keyless technology after a spate of thefts of luxury vehicles by new-age car thieves, a media report said on Sunday.
The Britain-based luxury car firm, which hopes to produce a driverless vehicle within the next decade, has filed a patent application in America that suggests it is developing a new security device that will lock and unlock the doors, but not be used to start the vehicle.
Auto component body expects 10 pc growth
Banking on revival of commercial vehicle segment, the auto component industry body ACMA expects the sector to grow by up to 10 per cent in the current fiscal.
The industry, which is expected to touch USD 100 billion in turnover by 2020, grew by 11 per cent to Rs 2.34 lakh crore (USD 38.5 billion) in the 2014-15 financial year.
Honda recalls 11,381 units of Accord, CR-V, Civic in India
Honda Cars India is recalling a total of 11,381 units of Accord, CR-V and Civic, manufactured between 2003 and 2007, to replace a faulty part in the passenger and driver side airbags.
The recall, which is part of Honda’s global campaign of fixing potential defect related to airbags, would cover 10,805 units of premium sedan Accord, 575 units of sports utility vehicle CR-V and one unit of Civic sedan.
Tata Motors’ global sales rise 4 pc in April
Tata Motors today reported a growth of 4 per cent in global sales, including Jaguar Land Rover’s at 77,701 units in April.
The company had sold 75,026 units in the same month last year.
In the passenger vehicles category, global sales last month stood at 51,021 units, up 6 per cent. It had sold 47,972 units in April 2014, the company said in a statement.
Sales of luxury brand Jaguar Land Rover rose by 1.31 per cent to 40,665 units during the month as compared to 40,137 units during the same month a year ago.
Nissan launches Terrano Groove at Rs 11.45 lakh
Japanese carmaker Nissan on Thursday launched a special edition of its sports utility vehicle Terrano in India priced at Rs 11,45,123 (ex-showroom Delhi).
Nissan Terrano Groove limited edition comes with features including precision speakers by Rockford Fosgate, one of the leading brands in high-performance in-car audio.
The model also comes with branded fabric mats and upmarket LED scuff plates on the doors as well as chrome highlights for fog lamps, tail lamps and tailgate.
