Police, EC seize over Rs 68 lakh cash in Bengal

Kolkata: The police and Election Commission officials have made a cumulative seizure of cash amount of over Rs 68 lakh and fake Indian currency notes of more than Rs 2 lakh face value across West Bengal, an official said on Tuesday.

“The cumulative status of seizure made so far includes an amount of Rs 68,17,320 cash and Rs 2,30,000 FICN across the state,” said Additional Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Basu.

He said 71 arms, 250 rounds of ammunition, 38 bombs, 580 litres of country spirit, 5057.105 litres of illicit liquor and other items have been recovered.

Sharing the details of ‘c-Vigil App’ Basu said, “As many as 1,261 complaints have been registered so far out of which 788 have been “resolved”.

Also, they have received 428 complaints via ECI’s National Grievance Services (NGS) portal and 359 of them have been resolved.

The citizens portal of NGS recorded 555 complaints out of which 478 have been addressed, Basu said.

He also mentioned that out of total seizure, an amount of Rs 23,80,000 was seized on Tuesday from Kumarganj in Dakshin Dinajpur by the static surveillance team. The cash is kept with the district treasury for temporary possession.
