Hyderabad, September 26: Alleging negligence for the death of a woman, angry relatives damaged furniture and then staged a protest in front of Osmania General Hospital on Sunday.
According to eyewitnesses, the relatives of Sharada (55), a resident of Nalgonda district alleged that she had died after on-duty staff of the hospital delayed in providing treatment to her.
The relatives said that Sharada was admitted to the OGH on Thursday as she was suffering from high fever and blood pressure.
The protestors alleged that as Sharada’s condition started to deteriorate, they became alarmed and beseeched the staff on duty to attend on her. The doctors, according to the victim’s relatives did not even bother to administer saline to her.
Afzalgunj Inspector Anand Rao rushed to the hospital after being informed of the protest. He managed to placate the protestors.
Meanwhile relatives of other patients claimed that even after the government providing all the necessary facilities to hospitals and doctors, the staff, including doctors, nurses, ward boys and other staffs shirk away from their duties and also demand money for petty things like allowing attendants to enter hall or for beds.
The relatives pointed out that the Chief Minister is treated for viral fever at a corporate hospital. They said that if Mr Rosaiah is given treatment at the OGH, then he will come to experience the horrors of getting treated at a government hospital.
