Union Minister of State (I/C) for Labor and Employment, Bandaru Dattatreya said that with the rolling of Goods and Services Tax (GST) across the nation, one lakh jobs will be created in the first three months in the country. In addition to this around 60,000 persons would get employment in
accountancy sector, he said.
Addressing a Press Conference in Hyderabad today, Dattatreya informed that the GST roll-out was a historic moment and it’s like nation achieving economic and tax freedom, he said. Explaining on the GST awareness campaign, Dattatreya said that Union Finance Ministry with the association of different institutions conducted 1,118 workshops in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states in the last 6-months for the benefit of trading community and general public. Around 150 GST seva Kendras were setup and a manual which contains complete information was also made available to help the traders, he said.
Dattatreya said that with the roll out of GST, 17 types of taxes abolished and tax system is changed into an integrated manner. There were nearly 1500 slabs in tax system, now it has brought down to only 4, he said. Dattatreya also informed that from now on wards there will be no delays in the transport of goods as the check-posts situated at different state borders were removed. With the GST roll out, the GDP growth will be increased from 7% to 9%, inflation will come down as the prices of essential commodities will come down, he said. (NSS)
