Idea Cup:India restricts SL to 213

Dhaka, January 10: Indian bowlers finally delivered with some disciplined bowling to restrict Sri Lanka to 213 all-out in the fifth match of the Idea Cup tri-series at the Sher-e-Bangla national stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka.

India started with a bang with Sudeep Tyagi striking in the very first over to dismiss Upul Tharanga (0) early. Dilshan then try to accelerate the Lankan innings with a quickfire 17-ball 33 with eight fours before becoming Zaheer Khan’s (3/38) first victim.

With both the openers gone India struck at regular intervals to reduce the Lankans to 84/6 in the 19th over with Jayawardene (5), Samaraweera (0), Kandamby (1) and Parera (11) all falling cheaply.

But skipper Sangakkara (68) and Suraj Randiv (57) did the rescuing act adding 59-run for the seventh wicket before Yuvraj (1/18) finally end the partnership.

Randiv added another 59-run with Thushara (28) and scored his maiden ODI fifty in the process before falling to Amit Mishra (3/40) who also picked up the last wicket of Walegedera (1).

Earlier Kumar Sangakkara won the toss and elected to bat first.

Tilakaratene Dilshan return for Sri Lanka replacing Thirimanne while Malinga Bandara make way for Chanaka Walegedara.

India made three changes from the side that beat Bangladesh with Dinesh Karthick, Amit Mishra and Sudeep Tyagi replacing Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh and Ashish Nehra.
