Harish meets Uma Bharati; Centre asks CS to meet KRMB today

With Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao complaining, Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharathi directed its Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma to hold talks with Krishna Board and also with union Irrigation secretary to sort out the issue. Earlier, Harish Rao complained to Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharathi against the board for its unilateral draft notification hampering Telangana interests.

Along with TS special envoy at Delhi S Venugopala Chary and TRS MPs in Delhi, Harish submitted a memorandaum to Uma Bharathi and sought justice by stalling the Krishna Board notification which is in favour of the Andhra Pradesh Government. Later at a media conference Harish Rao criticized that the Krishna Board shows the draft prepared by the AP Govt and its approval by the Centre will only violate the Act passed in Parliament recently. Irrigation Minister today lashed out at Krishna River Water Management Board (KRMB) for transcending its limits and favouring the Andhra Pradesh Government on river waters usage.

Harish Rao further added that though Bachawat Tribunal allotted 299 tmc for TS and 512 to AP it is not final. The board instead of monitoring is indulging in allocation against the norms he fumed. He deplored that the allocation of waters to TS at Pulichintala, Krishna Delta and KC canal projects also denying its rightful share. We are expecting that the Centre will clarify on correct allocation of waters to the TS, he added. (NSS)
