Flames catch OU student while burning Revanth’s effigy

Tension prevailed in the Osmania University when flames caught an agitating student Sivannarayana on Wednesday.

The students were agitating in protest against the bail granted to cash-for-vote case accused and TTDP MLA A Revanth Reddy. As part of their agitation, the students burnt an effigy of Revanth Reddy at the Arts College. Petrol fell on Sivannarayama when the students sprinkled petrol on the burning effigy. The students were shocked when Sivannarayana caught flames. They put out the flames on Sivannarayana and rushed him to Gandhi Hospital. On receipt of the information, the OU police deployed security personnel at the Arts College.
Later, the students tried to take out a rally from Osmania University to Cherlapally jail to obstruct the release of Revanth Reddy, but the police foiled their attempts leading to a wordy duel between the students and police. (NSS)
