CM exudes confidence to solve Telangana-row

Hyderabad, July 01: The Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, on Thursday exuded confidence that any decision taken by the party high command on the controversial Telangana statehood issue would be accepted by one and all.

He also said that the process of consulting people from both the regions is on. When asked about the raging differences within the party in his state, Mr Kiran said, “The Centre will take an appropriate decision on this issue at the appropriate time. Negotiations and consultations with party leaders from the region are continuing. And I am confident the decision will be accepted by all.”

The former cricketer also favoured the Gandhi-family scion, Mr Rahul Gandhi, taking over as the Prime Minister of the country. He said, “It is not a new thing. I had earlier said we will try to get as many MPs as possible from the state so that Mr Rahul becomes the Prime Minister in the future.”

Mr Kiran who met the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, requested him to ensure the deletion of clause 14(f) and also expedite the issue of SC categorisation apart from demanding national status to the projects of Polavaram and Pranahita Chevella.

During his talks with the Union defence minister, Mr A.K. Antony, Mr Kiran sought establishments of production units of BDL at Vizag, Ibrahimpatnam and Pileru.

He also requested Mr Antony to sanction a Missile Launching Centre at Nagayya Lanka in Krishna district for which he cleared a land of 365 acres, recently.

To a question on Cabinet expansion, the Chief Minister said that it would be done at the appropriate time.
