Washington: Actor Chloe Grace Moretz has credited Donald Trump, the 45th United States President, for making her recently-released film ‘The Miseducation of Cameron Post’ a special one.
‘The Miseducation of Cameron Post’ is a lesbian love story, where a teenage girl is forced to enroll in a centre that conducts gay conversion therapy.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly at the SCAD Savannah Film Festival, Chloe said that when the project reached halfway, it was the time for Donald Trump and his cabinet to assume power.
She further revealed it is at that time that more money was raised for the project as Mike Pence, the Vice-President, turned out to be an outspoken believer in gay conversion therapy
Before venturing into the movie, Chloe took a break of one and a half years only to realise that she needed to pursue art mixed with activism.
Preparing for the role of the titular lesbian character named Cameron was another task for Chloe as she spent her time speaking to young survivors in New York City who had to go through gay conversion therapy.
Chloe of ‘Kick Ass’ movie series said she wasn’t aware that this practice was widely prevalent in America, adding that this was something which inspired her to dive into the project.
She further mentioned that the movie was close to her heart as it was the first time she worked with an all-female crew.
‘The Miseducation of Cameron Post’ was released worldwide on January 22, 2018.
