ASANSOL: Maulana Md Imdadullah Rashidi, the Imam of Asansol, who lost his son at the hands of a mob during the March riots received a final gift from his dead son- a pass certificate of Class X.
Despite losing his young son, Imam Imdadullah displayed great courage by calming down local Muslims from retaliating the lynching of his son’s death and prevented bloodshed.
Now after nearly two months of death, 16-year-old Md Shibghatullah gave his last gift to his family- marks sheet of of class X examination.
According to Times Of India reports, Shibghatullah appeared for his Madhyamik exam, the additional Biology paper, on March 21 and his lifeless body was recovered late on March 28.
The family was aware that the result would be out on Wednesday and therefore, the Imam’s elder son, Md Ataullah visited the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education website after 10:30 am to retrieve the results of his younger brother.
Shibghatullah finished his first board exam — and his life’s last— with 58% marks.
“My son is no more. He never used to talk about his dreams. Anyway, with his death, they were buried forever,”
Rashidi said on Wednesday, according to TOI.
“But I would like to work for those students who cannot fulfil their dreams. That would be the only way to ensure that he rests in peace,” he added. “We wanted him to become a doctor or an engineer,” told brother Ataullah.
“I joined school when I was in Class 7 and was so weak in English that I even thought of repeating a year. Shibghatullah came to know about this and told me that he would take care of my problem. He was as good as his word, sharing notes and helping me,” Md Anwar Ansari, the late boy’s friend told the paper.
