YSR Congress launched flag festival

Hyderabad, March 22: The YSR Congress Party on Monday launched a week-long flag-hoisting festival in Prakasam district.

Over 100 activists assembled at the Court centre here and hoisted the party flag in three colours — blue, white, and green — with a picture of the late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy in the middle and encircled by a host his welfare schemes.

In Markapur, about 400 Telugu Desam activists quit the party and joined the YSR Congress Party under the leadership of Udumala Kota Reddy after inauguration of the party office and hoisting of the party flag. B. Brahmananda Reddy, who played a key role in organising the ‘Odarpu yatra’ in the district last year, welcomed them into the party. The activists vowed to work for making Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy the Chief Minister in the future for effective implementation of the large number of welfare schemes and development projects launched during the YSR regime.

Processions taken out

The party activists organised processions and flag-hoisting festival in all villages in the district, party sources said. Y.V. Subba Reddy, a close relative of YSR reviewed the arrangements for the conduct of the festival.

Ahead of the formation of the party committees, two Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency members K. Swapna from Podili and M. Ragava Rao from Ongole resigned to their posts and also from the Congress.
