Xiaomi introduces MIUI 7 OS with new feature, updates

Amsterdam, Aug. 20 : Chinese company Xiaomi has unveiled its Android-based MIUI 7 OS in New Delhi.

According to The Next Web, the update brings numerous new features, interface tweaks and performance improvements.

The company says MIUI 7 offers up to 30 percent faster response time when launching system apps and a 10 percent increase in battery life for the average user.

The company has added four new system UI themes that change the look of icons, menus and other graphic elements. The users can choose from Rose, Pink Blush, Ocean Breeze and High Life.

Also, the new theme creation tool, Muse can be used by the user to customize the interface the way they want, complete with animations and dynamic content. Xiaomi says it has over 15,000 themes available in its store.

The users can now set lockscreen to display an animation of the current weather in their area or use replace the background with a new image every day.

A new feature called Showtime allows the users to assign five second video loops to contacts which show up instead of a still image when they call.

MIUI 7 offers XXL Text which revamps the interface to correctly display larger fonts without breaking other elements.

‘Auto Do Not Disturb’ feature for the users who own Mi Band turns off notifications when the tracker detects they are asleep.

The company is also bringing its visual IVR service to India which shows the users menu options for more than 50 services when they call their automated customer care lines.

In addition, Child Mode allows the users to whitelist apps that their kids can use while restricting access to email and messages.

Also, the Baby Album feature recognizes babies in photos and groups those pictures together so they are easy to flip through or view as a slideshow on their lockscreen.

Xiaomi has also integrated Opera Max’s data saving technology which helps reduce data usage on mobile and Wi-Fi connections across most apps by up to 50 percent.

MIUI 7 will be available in beta testing starting August 24 for the Redmi 1S, Redmi 2, Mi 4, Mi 4i, Mi 3, Redmi Note 3G and Redmi Note 4G. (ANI)
