`Women have themselves to blame for dwindling careers`

New York, May 31 (ANI): A women herself could be the biggest roadblock of her career, according to a survey.

The survey, conducted among 954 members of LinkedIn’s Professional Women’s Network Group, showed that female employees may themselves be their own enemy when it came to furthering their career and salary raise, the New York Daily News reported.

Only 25 percent professional women asked about receiving a raise in the last year, however, 75 percent of workers who asked got a raise.

When asked what was holding them back professionally, many of the female workers cited a lack of promotion opportunities, hesitancy when it came to taking time away from family and personal life, and a disinterest in staying put at their current company long enough to climb the hierarchy.

Linda Descano, President and CEO of Women and Co., Citi’s personal finance resource for females, said that another problem for women was that they underestimate the importance of networking. (ANI)
