Shillong, May 19: After handling over 300 anti-insurgency operations and leading more than a hundred from the front in some of the most hostile terrains, a 40-year-old woman heads the police force in the capital of matrilineal Meghalaya quite aptly.
No less than a terror to anti-social elements, Claudia Lyngwa is the Superintendent of Police here and is the first woman in the state to have cleared the police service examination.
She also juggles successfully between home, where she looks after four kids, and the workplace.
“Sometimes it is hectic, trying and I get over-stretched.
But when a job is in your hand, it has to be done. I have tried to give my best and have never shirked responsibility,” says Lyngwa who was twice the recipient of President’s Award for gallantry and a host of medals conferred by the state government.
