Woman set ablaze by jealous in-laws

Hyderabad, October 29: Bearing grudge that their brother was neglecting them after his marriage, two sisters set ablaze their sister-in-law at Dabeerpura on Tuesday night.

The victim’s mother-in-law was also involved in the killing, the police said.

The injured woman succumbed to burns early Thursday morning while undergoing treatment. According to the police, the victim, Asma Khan (22) of Uppal, was married to Itesham Ali Khan, a private employee from Dabeerpura, two years back. They fell in love with each other and got married, the police said.
Ali Khan’s mother, Haseena Begum, and his sisters, Heena and Sana, were reportedly harassing Asma Khan since the time of marriage.
Ali Khan, reportedly, purchased a saree worth Rs 2,000 for his wife while he bought lesser value sarees for his mother and sisters. Since then, the mother and daughters started ill-treating and harassing Asma Khan for petty issues.

“The mother and daughters were unhappy that they were being neglected by Ali Khan after marriage and he was giving undue importance to his wife,” Dabeerpura police inspector D Prasanna Kumar said. Bearing this grudge, the trio poured kerosene on Asma Khan on Tuesday night while she was sleeping and set her ablaze. She was shifted to Osmania General Hospital where she succumbed to burns early Thursday morning.

Asma Khan, before breathing her last breath, told the police that her husband used to look after her well but it was her in-laws who would harass her for petty issues.
The trio is absconding.
