Hyderabad, October 29: “Come and participate in the 10K Run and Half Marathon to promote healthy living and sense of well being among the people of the state and make our Capital city prominent on the international map,” was the clarion call made by the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly D Manohar to the people of Hyderabad.
Announcing the details of 10K Run, in a press conference here on Wednesday, he said, the 10K Foundation of Hyderabad, which has been conducting the event for the past seven years successfully, will be organising the 10K Run and Half Marathon on November 22.
He said that the half Marathon and 10K Run will begin by 5.30 am and 6.30 am respectively.
Introducing the film stars Anushka and Allu Arjun as the brand ambassadors of the event, the chairman of the Foundation D Suresh Babu said, both the events will start from Peoples Plaza and end at the same venue, but the 10K Run goes round Hussainsagar Lake and Half Marathon goes upto Charminar and ends at Peoples Plaza.
“There will be an off-line and on-line registration.
The general registration fee is Rs 50 and registration including a T-shirt is Rs 150,” he added.
“Last year 20,000 people participated in the mega run and this time we are expecting that the figure will surely cross 25,000. This time the event will see more international figures, running on the city roads,” said Pullela Gopichand the former all-England Badminton Champion.
The brand ambassadors of the event Anushka and Allu Arjun asked the people of the city to participate in the event in large numbers and make it successful.
The chairman of the foundation D Suresh Babu also announced the other programmes of the foundation like cleaning of the lake Hussainsagar shore and supporting the city schoolchildren to enhance their athletic skills by providing highly qualified trainers free of cost to them. The winners will be presented Rs 15 lakh cash prizes,” he added.
