Kolkata, December 29: Apparently upset over her husband having an extra-marital affair, a woman today allegedly tried to commit suicide after killing her son at a residential area in south Kolkata, police said.
Anjana Maity confessed to committing suicide after killing her son, Babu Maity, a student of class VIII.
Initial investigations have revealed that Anjana was suffering from depression because her husband Ranjan Maity was having an extra-marital affair, police said.
The family had moved to the city two years ago from Chandipur in East Midnapore district. Ranjan began to live with another woman leaving Anjana and her son, they said.
The police has also interrogated Ranjan in connection with the incident.
