Will D Srinivas embrace TRS?

Will former United Andhra Pradesh PCC Chief and senior Congress leader of Telangana Dharmapuri Srinivas embrace the ruling TRS Party?

Speculations are rife in political circles in this regard. Srinivas’s actions and a section of media’s stories were also giving support to these speculations that he would shift his loyalties to TRS. D Srinivas, who has long association with the Congress party, was unhappy with the party high command’s ill-treatment towards him. He skipped the late former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao’s 94th birth anniversary celebrations held at Gandhi Bhavan on Sunday where AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh was present.
After the meeting, Digvijay Singh tried to meet D Srinivas at the latter’s residence and asked party leaders to inform the same to Srinivas. But, Srinivas outrightly rejected Digvijay’s efforts. More over, Srinivas expressed his anguish over Digvijay. Shocked over the Srinivas’s rejection, Digvijay changed his mind on meeting Srinivas.

Srinivas was not happy with the Party high command when the Party refused to give Rajya Sabha ticket to him. That time the Party gave Rajya Sabha seat to Rapolu Anand Bhasker. But that time, Srinivas didn’t express his unhappiness over the selection of Rapolu and thought that he will get a chance of becoming Chief Minister of the State. But things changed in a speedy manner and Kiran Kumar Reddy became Chief Minister of the united State and Srinivas, who expected Chief Minister post after the demise of Dr YS Rajashekar Reddy in accident, remained silent sufferer.
Srinivas, who lost his election again and again in Nizamabad, tired with regular elections though he worked as a minister in YSR’s first cabinet. But he lost importance in the party slowly though he got second chance to occupy the seat of PCC Chief.
Former Chief Minister K Rosaiah, after becoming Governor of Tamilnadu, tendered his resignation to his MLC post and the Party filled the vacant MLC post with Srinivas. Recently, his tenure was over and he expected the MLC seat in MLAs quota but the Party gave chance to Akula Lalitha from his own district and more so she is a relative of Srinivas. But Srinivas, who expected the same, was shocked on the developments. In a private chat with reporters, he said that he was not happy with the high command, which not even consulted him in regard to MLC seat in MLA quota. Then onwards, he was not participating actively in party activities and he expressed his unhappiness towards Digvijay by abstaining from the meeting held on Sunday.
On the other hand, rumors are doing rounds that the ruling TRS party assured Srinivas that it will give an MLC seat in Nizamabad local body quota to be held soon. During Srinivas’s tenure, the Congress party came to power two times and that time the high command gave top priority to him. But his defeat in elections made all the difference.
Now the political analysts are raising doubts that the Chief Minister post aspirant D Srinivas would join the TRS and mingle with the party leaders or is it only ploy to give serious warning to the Congress Party. Other analysts say nothing will change the prospects of Congress and TRS parties with Srinivas’s desertion and joining the TRS. One has to wait and see what happens in future. (NSS)
