Why was Jagan not arrested : TDP

TDP leader and former minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy has questioned why YSR Congress president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy was not arrested though his name was mentioned as the first accused in the charge-sheet of the illegitimate assets case
against him.

Talking to the media here on Sunday, Somireddy expressed fears that he would tamper with evidence if he was not arrested immediately. He also alleged that the names of big companies that had indulged in irregularities were also not mentioned in the charge-sheet.

Chandramohan Reddy, who recently lost to YSR Congress candidate Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy in Kovuru by-election, has said that Jagan has lost the right to move about amid people. He has to surrender before the court, if he has any moral values, he added.

Questioning why he was not being arrested, Chandramohan Reddy has asked if Jagan was above law. He also alleged that the Congress leadership at the Centre was trying to save Jagan from the case. He criticized the CBI for catching small fish, leaving the big fish scot-free. While Union minister A Raja, Suresh Kalmadi, Kanimozhi and Amar Singh were arrested, were there any special reasons for not arresting Jagan, he queried.

Chandramohan Reddy has taken a serious exception to the statement of YSR Congress leaders threatening that there would be pell-mell if Jagan was arrested. Stating that it was unsafe for society to allow anti-social elements to move about freely, the former minister has demanded Jagan’s immediate arrest. He said as there was ample evidence that he had indulged in irregularities, he should himself surrender. (NSS)
