Bringing cheers to the Samajwadi Party (SP), the results are out of the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls on Tuesday. The parliamentary board of SP will meet on Wednesday to decide the new chief minister of the state.
As per the reports, the meeting will start at 11 am during which the party will finalise its chief ministerial candidate. Akhilesh Yadav extensively campaigned for his party and has emerged as an icon. People of Uttar Pradesh showed their love for him that resulted in SP’s victory.
Akhilesh maintains that the reins of power will remain in the hands of his father, Mulayam Singh. On the other hand, reports reveal that many of the party workers, senior leaders and MLAs want Akhilesh to come forward and take charge of SP.
However, another party leader Shivpal Singh Yadav said that Mulayam will be the next chief minister. He also maintained that any decision taken by the party chief and the parliamentary board would be acceptable to all of them.
Mulayam Singh first became chief minister of Uttar Pradesh in 1989.
