WhatsApp rolled out a major update, here are the new features

Facebook-owned WhatsApp has rolled out a new update 2.18.9, which includes notification extension support in which when you receive photos or GIFs, you can 3D Touch or swipe left on the notification and tap View to preview the media from within the notification.

There are more new features one of them is the ability to automatically recognize suspicious links shared in your chats. Upon receipt of a message that contains a link, the app analyzes it locally in determine if it’s to detect if it contains unusual characters or tries to appear as another website. The other feature includes Wallet support.

These new features started rolling out to users today but WhatsApp isn’t bringing them to all users at once. If you don’t see the suspicious link feature or rich notification previews after updating to WhatsApp 2.18.90, you may get these features in the next update.
