Karimnagar: The District administration of Karimnagar has come with a new concept of using WhatsApp for helping farmers by providing timely solutions to them. A new WhatsApp group named e-Sayam has been created and it includes Agriculture extension officers (AEOs), Agriculture officials, scientists of Krushi Vignana Kendram (KVK), Jammikunta. The programme is being jointly implemented by Agriculture Department and KVK from December 1, 2017, Telangana Today reported.
This programme works in a manner that Agriculture Extension officer visits to the Agriculture fields and if there is any problem, the image would be sent to the e-Sayam group. The scientists included in the group will provide the solution to the problem.
The project also takes feed backs from the farmer. The idea for developing e-Sayam came from IIIT, Gachibowli team, which sought Rs 20 lakh to design the project.
However, the DAO said that the project was designed at a cost of Rs 2.78 lakh.

In the second phase of the project, wall posters depicting the crop diseases and their solution will be printed and pasted in the central location of the villages.
Also, toll free numbers for farmers had been arranged at KVK to pick calls from the farmers.
