The Met Department has predicted continuation of prevailing weak monsoon conditions over Telangana State up to July 18.
“Based on the Weather Model run at TSDPS of Planning Department and other available numerical guidance from National Centers (IMD and other centers), it indicates that, the prevailing weak monsoon conditions over the state will continue upto 18th July. Thereafter, with the expected formation of low pressure system over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Andhra-Odisha coast on 17th July and its likely northwestwards movement, rainfall activity is expected to improve from 18th July onwards over north and northeastern parts of Telangana state. Overall rainfall activity is likely to be slightly below normal over the state during the next one week,” Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) Weather Forecast Consultant Y.V. Rama Rao said on Friday.
Light rainfall has been predicted at a few places in Hyderabad, Vikarabad, Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Mahabubnagar, Wanaparthy, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Rajanna-Sircilla,Nagarkurnool, Jogulamba-Gadwal, Nalgonda, Suryapet,Yadadri-Bhongiri, Jangaon, Medak, Sangareddy and Siddipet districts. Similarly, Light to Moderate rainfall at a few places and many places from 18th July onwards has been predicted for Adilabad, Komrambhem-Asifabab, Nirmal, Peddapalle, Karimnagar,Jagtial, Mancherial, Jayashankar-Bhupalpally, Warangal (U), Warangal (R) and Mahabubabad districts.
Monsoon remained weak during the last one week over Telangana state with below normal rainfall (-26) received over the state with seasonal rainfall being surplus by 12% up to 14th July. In the absence of any weather system over the state, in association with the localized heating/convection, light to moderate rainfall occurred at a few places mainly during the evening/night hours over central and eastern parts and light rainfall over the remaining parts of the state during the week.
The highest rainfall of 99.0 mm was recorded at Chunchupally (Bhadradri-Kothagudem) on 14th July during the week. (INN)
