We will ‘corner’ Cong govt in Assembly: Naidu

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu today declared that his party would ‘corner’ the Congress government from the second day of the Assembly budget session for adopting anti-people policies and allegedly indulging in corruption.

Talking to mediapersons ahead of his protest walk (Padayatra) from NTR Ghat to Assembly opposing the Speaker’s attitude on constituting the House Committee to inquire into land allotments, Mr Naidu said every citizen in the country should think about the way the Congress party was running the administration at the Centre and in Andhra Pradesh after various scams came to light.

He said there were liquor syndicates in the state and one of its dealer had allegedly given bribe to state excise Minister M Venkataramana and the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had incorporated this in its report before submitting to the court.

Mr Naidu said even though former BJP Chief Minister B S Yeddyurapa was jailed in the Mining case in the neighbouring Karnataka state, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy had not dismissed Excise Minister from the Cabinet.

He also flayed Governor E S L Narasimhan on the issue and said the TDP would protect the state at any cost and work tirelessly for the welfare of the people.

The former Chief Minister condemned the ‘Nonchalent’ attitude of the state government for not addressing the problems of the farmers despite himself touring 22 districts on Rythuporubata programme.

Charging Speaker Nadendla Manohar with constituting the House Committee by violating the rules and traditions, Mr Naidu said in the House Committee the TDP has a representation of two members even though it had 85 legislators in the House.

The Speaker before going ahead of constituting the House Committee had not consulted the TDP, he claimed and added that Mr Manohar had taken the decision ‘unilaterally.’ Earlier, the TDP President and party legislators paid rich tributes to former chief minister and Party founder N T Rama Rao at the NTR Ghat.
