Kuala Lumpur, August 20: The Government is committed to building a country that is better, stronger and more progressive, Datuk Seri Najib Razak said.
The Prime Minister said this was why the Government had continuously made changes and introduced policies and programmes that would benefit the masses.
“You are the future face of Malaysia. It is you that we have in mind when we formulate policies and programmes which are long term in nature. The Government is committed to the making of a better Malaysia. That is our responsibility and that is our promise to you,” he said at a buka puasa event with about 1,000 students from private and public universities.
Also present were his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor and Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin.
Najib said that besides introducing the 1Malaysia, People First Performance Now concepts and the Government Transformation Programme, the Government had also strived to promote efficiency, innovation, discipline and good work ethics.
In order to progress, he said things should change instead of “remaining at status quo”.
“Even when we are good, we need to change because if we don’t, we will regress or slide down,” he added.
The PM said the Government aimed to engage students by promoting interaction, getting them to participate in activities and to empower them with a sense of responsibility.
