We have lost faith in Centre: TSJAC leaders

Hyderabad, August 13: Infuriated by the Home Minister P Chidambaram washing his hands off the issue of withdrawal of police cases registered against students, leaders of the Telangana Students Joint Action Committee on Thursday said that they do not have faith in him anymore.

Talking to media persons, the TSJAC leaders expressed their anger at Mr Chidambaram’s statements and said that the Union Home Minister had assured that all cases filed against students would be withdrawn after his assurance of a separate Telangana state on December 9, 2009.

The TSJAC leaders accused Mr Chidambaram of going back on his words by saying that the withdrawal of cases against the students rested with the state government. They said that the Home Minister’s words were ‘not correct’.
The Student leaders also said that they have lost faith in the Centre since the government is changing its statements according to the situation.

The TSJAC leaders pointed out that even after nine months following the famous Dec 9 statement, Telangana remains a dream. They added that they have lost hopes of the police cases registered against the students being withdrawn now, especially after Mr Chidambaram’s statement today.

The TSJAC leaders reaffirmed their vow to continue their fight for a separate Telangana state and said that they are not afraid of more cases being filed against them.

The leaders further warned the MPs from Telugu Desam Party to resign or meet the same fate as meted out to the party’s senior leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy.
Mr Janardhan Reddy was beaten up by the students inside Osmania University Campus when he went there to offer his party’s support to their cause.
