New Delhi, February 01: They may be grouped alongside India, South Africa and England in the World Cup, but Ireland captain William Porterfield on Monday said his side is no pushover and would give the heavyweights a tough challenge in cricket’s biggest spectacle.
“It doesn’t matter who are there in the group because at the end it is the performance of the day that matters. We have a very good side. All the players are capable of playing an important innings,” Porterfield said in an exclusive interview from Dubai.
“We bat really deep and we would take it one game at a time. Our’s is a balanced side and we have some good players and have game changers in George Dockrell and Paul Stirling,” he added.
Beside George and Paul, Ireland will also have former England batsman Ed Joyce in their team, after he was picked in the 15-man squad at the last minute.
