Waterlogging problem recurs as rains lash Delhi

New Delhi, September 03: Delhiites had to suffer waterlogging woes as heavy rains today lashed several parts of the national capital.

The Central Control Room of MCD received 17 complaints of waterlogging during rains from areas like Pusa Road, Sarai Kale Khan, Panchsheel Garden, Shahdara and Ram Krishan Ashram Marg, officials said.

Three complaints of falling of trees were received from Kailash Colony, Parsad Nagar and Karol Bagh.

Residents have encountered massive waterlogging and traffic snarls every time heavy rains lashed the city this year, with MCD receiving most of the flak.

Lt Governor Tejendra Khanna held a meeting with various city agencies on August 25 and asked them to prepare a long-term plan for strengthening the overall drainage system in the city, besides augmenting short-term measures.
