Irrigation Minister T HarishRao today said the TRS government will irrigate 1.56 lakh acres in Adilabad district during Kharif season.
Talking to reporters after his visit to Triveni Confluence project at Muthnoor village in Adilabad district along with ministers Jogu Ramanna, Indrakaran Reddy and others, Harish Rao said all the projects will be completed soon to bring more crops under irrigation. “We could irrigate 1.56 lakh acres in Adilabad district by completing small and medium irrigation projects”, Harish said.
The minister also said besides laying canals, the project will be made into a mini tank bund at an estimated cost of Rs 50 lakhs. He also said they would bring another 12 lakh acres under irrigation by completing other projects like Pranahitha, Tummidihatti, Kuppi lift schemes. The aim of the government was to make use of single drop of water to improve agricultural activity for better yield, he noted. The projects are not meant for benefiting the contractors but only to help the farmers develop, he asserted. The TRS government was ready to provide all assistance and cooperation to farmers, who should not resort to extreme steps, Harish Rao appealed. (NSS)
