Hyderabad: Dept. of Minorities Welfare and Wakf Board are forced to take such decisions under political pressure which are against Wakf laws. In such an incident, Secretary, Dept. of Minorities allotted 2500 sq. yards wakf land to Salar-e-Millath Trust for a menial rent of Rs. 15000 per month. The land belongs to Jamia Masjid, Amberpet in which Osmania Model High School is located.
It may be mentioned that according to Wakf act, Wakf Board is authorized for granting lease for 3 years. For granting leaves for thirty years, open auction has to be conducted.
It may be mentioned that Wakf Board had sent a proposal in 2014 for fixing up the rent. The same rates have been followed where the rent had to fixed according to the market value.
It is reported that the GO and the proceedings of the Wakf Board were released secretly under the pressure from the local party. Recently Wakf Board took a decision to lease out 11 Wakf properties accepting the proposals made by the local party. It is understood that the officials of the Dept. of Minorities Welfare are functioning at the behest of the local party.
