VV Rao condemns sedition case against OU Prof. Kasim

Hyderabad: “Virasam” leader Vara Vara Rao has condemned the arrest of Osmania University Professor and “Nadusthuna Telangana” newspaper editor Kasim under sedition charge.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Thursday, Vara Vara Rao said it was the first sedition case in Telangana after bifurcation of united Andhra Pradesh government. He also alleged that conspiracy allegations were made against writers, intellectuals. He also alleged that Mulug police of Medak district registered an FIR against Kasim saying he was working as a courier to Maoists. The government has decided to arrest Kasim under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and dubbed the arrest as killing of democratic voice. He also demanded that the government withdraw the sedition case against Kasim and also demanded abolition of the UAPA Act. Writers Nandi Sidha Reddy, Sujatha Reddy also spoke. (NSS)
