Hyderabad: Congress candidate from Gajwel Assembly seat Vonteru Pratap Reddy today demanded that the Election Commission also count all VVPAT slips along with the votes polled in EVMs on the counting day. He also said he would bear the entire cost for counting of the slips if required.
Vanteru said the need to count the slips had arisen due to his fears that the ruling party candidates might tamper with the EVMs in order to ensure the victory of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. He also said he will approach the High Court with the same demand. He also said he had already taken permission from the officials of Election Commission to man the strong room where the EVMs are kept. Noting that the poll percentage has increased in Gajwel, he said the increase would help him and ensure his victory from the seat.
Rajat Kumar said that he will forward Vanteru appeal to the EC for further steps.
