Vikhar Ahmed’s two companions exonerated in constable’s murder case

Hyderabad: Special Investigation Team of Hyderabad City Police once again met with disappointment when court exonerated two companions of Vikhar Ahmed in police constable’s murder case. This is the second case in which the activists of Tehrik-e-Ghalba-e-Islam have been exonerated.

It may be recalled that in 2010, U. Ramesh a constable of APSP was shot dead in front of Volga Hotel at Husaini Alam. SIT had registered a case in July 2010 and implicated Vikhar Ahmed and his companions namely Syed Amjad Ali alias Suleman, Dr. Haneef, Riyaz Khan, Zakir, Mohammed Abdus Sayeed alleging that they were associated with Tehrik-e-Ghalba-e-Islam. All of them were arrested.

In its charge sheet, police claimed that Vikhar Ahmed and his companions had targeted police employees to take revenge of Makkah Masjid Bomb Blast incident which occurred on 18th May 2007.

During the hearing of the murder case of the constable at 7th Addl. Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court, Vikhar Ahmed and his four companions were killed in a fake encounter on 7th April 2015 at Alair while they were being shifted from Warangal Jail to Hyderabad for attending the court.

After this encounter, the parents of the slain youths had alleged that police did not have any evidence and anticipating the exoneration of these accused, police killed them in a fake encounter. SIT had dropped the names of 5 accused since they were dead whereas the case continued in respect of Riyaz Khan and Mohammed Abdus Sayeed. Police presented 31 witnesses in the court whose statements were recorded. Despite every effort of the police, the charges could not be proved against these youths and as a result of which they were exonerated by the court.

Senior Advocate, Mr. Mohammed Muzaffarullah Khan Shifaat and Mr. Mohammed Asif Ali pleaded the case of these youths.

It may be mentioned that in September 2016, II Addl. Metropolitan Sessions Judge had exonerated these two youths in the murder case of Home Guard Balaswami.
