The special division of Hyderabad City Police, Octopus conducted mock security drill in the morning hours at Makkah Masjid yesterday. Permission was already sought from the Dept. of Minorities Welfare for this drill. Mr. Mohammed Abdul Qadeer Siddiqui, Superintendent of Makkah Masjid who is also a retired DSP monitored the drill in maintaining the sanctity of the masjid.
According to the reports, three mock terrorists were hidden in Makkah Masjid and Octopus started its drill to capture them. The drill continued from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. The commandos of Octopus caught the mock terrorists. Commandos team had already surveyed the masjid earlier for this drill. They selected the morning hours to avoid any panic in the public.

Mr. Siddiqui had prohibited the commandos to use dog squad in masjid. Almost 40 trained commandos participated in the mock drill. Three mock terrorists were hidden in the masjid earlier with fake guns. They opened fire from inside the masjid and challenged the commandos. Instead of bullets, crackers were used. Exchange of fire took place between the mock terrorist and commandos. Security guards posted at Makkah Masjid had made these arrangements. During the mock drill, the security guards were explaining the public about the drill. After the successful completion of the mock drill, commandos took photographs with the Superintendent of Makkah Masjid.
